The location is awesome...just a couple of streets back from the centre of town. The decor inside the place is very old and the lounge consisted of a few very old chairs and an old tv in the corner...no heater or fireplace. The bedroom was very basic but warm and clean. The shared bathroom could have been cleaner. Also when...

Stayed there for 2 days with my daughter, they where very friendly and the place was very clean and comfortable. Not " fancy" but definitely value for money.
I was part of a group of 25 South Africans who stayed here over a long weekend. The venue was superb! The rooms were clean and are furnished with comfortable beds, clean linen and fun blankets. The towels were thick and of good quality. The showers were spotless with plenty of hot water. Our group took over the large kitchen...

Historic and unique. I've stayed in hostels and Guest houses throughout Europe but this ranks as one of the more unique and wonderful stays I've ever had. It is also located in the lovely village of Franschhoek with lots of great eateries and vineyards close by. Great value for the money, even during world cup.
Clive, Marlene and Robyn Alexander are wonderful hosts who made our stay at the Franschhoek Traveller's Lodge an enjoyable experience. They certainly go the extra mile to accomodate their guests. Thankyou so much!
In a place like Franschhoek where it's almost impossible to find budget lodging, you don't expect too much of a cheap hostel. However, Clive and his wife were beyond excellent hosts for us! Picked us up from Cape Town, dropped us of at the airport, arranged nice trips to the countryside and told us loads of history about South Africa!...

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Clive and Marlene were very friendly and offered excellent local tourist info. This historical building is in a perfect location for the town centre. Our room was spotless and recently decorated. I slept like a baby in a comfy bed with crisp clean linen. The bathroom was a few metres down the corridor,...

We needed an overnight stop to attend an evening wedding in Franschhoek. This was the perfect place. An historical old building which was once the school boarding house. It's basic but the room was spotless with the most comfortable bed and crisp white linen. Quite a unique experience. Very friendly and helpful management too.
The accommodation is basic but we we happy with our comfortable, clean and spacious room, and shower/toilet facilities that functioned perfectly. A stone's throw from the village centre, the Lodge is safe, secluded and quiet - no noise from passing traffic. The staff were very warm, friendly and helpful, and definitely added to the charm of the place! Last but...
