we really enjoyed the privacy of this place. We were here in the late spring and the creek behind the house was running and babblling. We loved the serene quietness in the evening and morning hours. The Jones' prepared a wonderful dinner and a wonderful breakfast. Bring your family and friends as there is plenty of room.

We arrived to this exceptionally remote location to find no one around, and our first vision was a dog in the bed of a truck that was caged in. Proper signage might have kept us from seeing that, but I think I would rather know the strange things in back driveways! The rooms were all unlocked, and our door even... More

I have often wondered, when I drive through the desert, who or what is up there in the small green cracks of the faraway hills? One answer is the Old Pioneer Garden Country Inn. It looks like it was once a sheep or cattle ranch, there is a history of Basque sheep-herding in the area. There is a creek running... More

Based on the descriptions of the Old Pioneer Garden Inn as a bed & breakfast, my wife had a mental picture of a quaint country inn with bedrooms upstairs. The best way to describe this is not as a B&B; as the sign on the fence says it's a guest ranch. We arrived around 8:30 p.m. & the owner, Dave,... More

It was hard to decide to write this review, as I want to keep this little gem of a secret all to myself! On a whim, we drove from Reno to Unionville (about a 3 hour trip) on a Sunday afternoon after seeing an article about it in the Reno Gazette Journal. We arrived at the inn unannounced and were... We were on a road trip, back from Canada and wanted to stay somewhere other that the casinos in Winnamucca. So we stayed at the Old Pioneer Garden Inn on our way back. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! It is an experience you will enjoy. We stayed in one of Dave's older houses (two bedrooms, one bath, living room, and... More

Having recently been traveling throughout the west and staying in B & B's, I decided I just had to write my appreciation of this wonderful place. First of all, getting there is a mini adventure as there are long stretches of road with few signs except to watch for cattle that might be on the road. The last few miles... More

I hate B&Bs, largely because I can't get past the feeling of imposing in some stranger's house. But this B&B is different. There was only one other party staying that night: we and they shared a duplex a few hundred feet from the main house, and we barely knew they were there. The house we stayed in is enormous, complete... More

It feels like home when staying at this beautiful B&B off the beaten tracks. Well, actually it is greater than home, with Mitzy's unforgettable breakfasts and dinners, the lovely decor, and the animals. The place is a real oasis in the desert of Nevada, where you can sit back and relax. No TV, no phones, no stress! Can't wait to... More

Well off the beaten path, quiet, solitude. You may not even know you are there, as there probably isn't anyone to meet you. You just go pick out your room and tell Mitzi or Dave later when or if you see them which room you took. Mitzi's meals are amazing. Worth double the dinner price. We have been there 5-6... More
