Lewellen NE is a hardly noticeable place at the west end of Lake McConaughy. Chose the Gander Inn as a convenient location while visiting the area for the Sand Crane migration. Stayed here when I had business in Oshkosh the next day. Stayed in the lower priced "motel" portion and it was a decent bed and bathroom. Fed me nice breakfast the next day - nice owner. Town is really really small - ate dinner up on Hwy 26 (Oregon trail cafe,) and it was good.
Talk about in the middle of nowhere! But, for a "mom and pop" inn/bed and breakfast (it is not a quaint, 120 year-old Victorian with antiques everywhere), this cannot be beaten.
