My husband and I visited Montana for our honeymoon and one of the locals from West Glacier recommended that we visit the bakery in Polebridge. It was a long drive on an icy road but it was so worth the trip. I've never seen anything like Polebridge. It had a lot of character and the bakery was awesome. The pastries... More

I am a bakery fanatic, traveling from Maine to California, Florida to Washington State in search of good ones. I've never found one better. The scones are fantastic and the sandwiches to die for. They may seem pricey but for the best, so what? This is a hidden gem straight out of Hollywood. People were friendly and it was well... More

Assortment: huge Taste: great Price:expensive (piece of pastry for $4.50?!?) Service: not very friendly, did not get a smile, just a grumpy face (maybe she did not understand me cause I have an accent?) Would return for the pastry though, no question.

Out in practically nowhere, near a quieter corner of the park, is the Polebridge Mercantile. Tasty baked goods - HUGE huckleberry bear claws. We stuffed ourselves with pastries, went hiking for the day, then stopped at the next door Northern Lights Saloon for a beer on the way out. This place has a friendly vibe - what a location! We... We stayed nearby for 3 nights and stopped at the Mercantile every day. The baked goods are the equivalent or better than any big city bakery I have ever been to. The huckleberry tarts alone are worth the drive. The people that work there are friendly and happy to see tourists. They have wi fi if you need it and... More

We have not stayed here overnight so I cannot rate the accommodations. I will say we took a drive out to polebridge the first time we were in glacier several years ago because it looked interesting on the map. I would advise an suv as the road is dirt and gravel a good part of the way. It can be... More

There aren't a lot of choices in the area: 2 that we found (although we did blow by a couple of possible others on the road before & after Polebridge). The bakery goods look yummy, the macaroons are definitely worth the stop, but there were a lot of other options both sweet and savory. The sandwiches - which saved us... More

The huckleberry macaroons were excellent as was the huckleberry bear claw! Definitely worth the stop. We also had sandwiches for lunch one day. I had the vegetarian one of the day (quinoa salad). It was good, though a little odd to have quinoa in bread! Still, a much needed hearty sandwich. But go for the huckleberry macaroons.

A trip out to Polebridge has everything: Glacier National Park vistas, a historic outpost, dirt roads and a nearby secluded lake. Head out to Polebridge and stop at the Flathead Lake Winery on the way as well. Here is the sequence to follow: 1. Coming from Whitefish, hit the Flathead Lake Winery and do a tasting. 2. Head to Polebridge... More

The Mercantile Bakery is great. As another reviewer mentioned, time stops here. The ppl couldn't be nicer. Most folks are summer dwellers that leave in the fall. The baked goods are delicious & I am and avid baker! I tried the Polenta, feta, olive loaf & the rhubarb, poppyseed bun. We also got the chocolate chip cookies & shortbread cookies.... More
