The Grand Union was the first luxury hotel in Montana, and it quietly reflects its pedigree. The present owners have combined historical accuracy, impeccable taste, relaxed service and extraordinary dining into a archetype for restored historic hotels. We return twice a year, minimum, to commune with the spirits of a very real Montana.

My girlfriend and I spent a magical Christmas with the gang at the Grand Union. We knew we had made the right choice right from the moment that we walked into the lobby and saw the wonderful Christmas decorations.
This grand old hotel wonderfully tells its history while being a very comfortable modern hotel with good sized rooms and wireless...

Just a short drive north from Great Falls, Montana, and east from Glacier National Park, sitting on the Missouri River, this historic hotel has grand style that can befit a wedding party or a group of river rafters.
The owners have not over modernized the building to take the ambiance away, but updated every aspect to attend to a guest's...

The hotel was a little quirky (at the check-in desk there was a sign saying to see the hostess in the restaurant for help), but very friendly, beautifully restored, and nicely furnished. It exceeded my expectations given we were in the middle of nowhere Montana. Since we reserved this hotel fairly late, the only available rooms left were junior suites....

We were pretty much ignored during our recent stay and our room filled with the smell of chicken barbequeing somewhere below. I would stay in a B&B in town on my next trip. The front desk clerk didn't get off the phone to talk to us, when we tried to share our disappointment.
The restaurant was closed for dinner for...

We are glad of any feedback about an experience at the Grand Union Hotel. We do try to have our restaurant accessible to all of the guest that stay with us. Our breakfast in the morning is complimentary and we always have a hot dish as well as various cereals and freshly baked pastry and sweet breads. Being that we...

I live in Montana, so decided to hop in the car and check out historic Fort Benton for the first time. The Grand Union in not the only game in town for lodging and dining, but it may as well be. It is hands down the only place I would consider staying after looking at the other options, and it...

This hotel was built in 1882 and restored in 1999 or thereabouts. It is on the Nat. Reg. of Historic Buildings and lies 50 feet from the Missouri River. The property has 26 rooms and a standard room is tight. Ask for a riverfront room.Ft. Benton is the home of the Upper Missouri River Breaks Center,Montana Agriculture Museum and, A...

This hotel has been meticulously renovated. But with all the attention to detail, the lobby and the check in experience are weirdly arctic and detached. It makes you wonder if anyone is actually in charge. This may be an artifact of being in small town Montana. Still, even with the beautiful room and the clean amenities, we didn't sleep well....

This hotel is the place to stay if you are planning a trip to old Ft. Benton. It is historic yet comfortable, clean, and enchanting. The dining room provides excellent food and service and the walkway along the river leads you to all the attractions.
