We had a house guest for the weekend and drove out from W Glacier to the Izaak for their special brunch. The buffet selections were totally mismatched and overpriced. We ordered off the normal lunch menu instead and it was terrible. It would have been better to have had the option of their dinner menu on such a special day.... More

Mother's Day weekend was spectacular! The Inn is a wonderful place. It is a train lovers paradise. There are remodeled engines, box cars and cabooses you can rent for your stay. The rooms are small, quiet and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The views are wonderful from any place on the grounds.

We visited the Izaak Walton Inn with a Groupon deal just earlier this spring. Our goal was to see Glacier NP without the tourists and we achieved it! Staying at the Inn helped a lot since a nice quaint lodging and delicious dinner was all we needed after roaming the still partially frozen park. We stayed in the hotel portion,... More

I did not stay here, but have passed by many times en route to and from Kalispell. Also, having read about it, I decided to take a day trip. I know the ride out is beautiful, so no matter what it would be worth the trip. Indeed it was!! The hotel is grand and full of history about the railroad... More

My in-laws come to Izaak Walton almost every February to snowshoe and this time they invited us along. Typically they take the train, but we decided to drive. It was a beautiful drive, scenic and windy roads - even had the chance to enter Glacier National Park. The inn is like a museum inside, filled with Railroad prints and memorabilia... More

My wife and I rode Amtrak complete with sleeper car and meals in the dining car and stopped the train at one of the few whistle/flag stop stations on the Empire Builder from Seattle to Chicago at Essex in order to stay at the Izaak Walton Inn. The Inn has recently upgraded the platform that they own on the frieght... More

My daughter and I recently spent a couple of days here enjoying the beautiful surroundings, exploring the area, and trying out both snowshoeing and cross country skiing. We signed up for one of the guided trips into Glacier and the guide was both knowledgable, friendly, and accomodating making every effort that we got to do what we wanted to do... More

Drove here from Whitefish with adults friends and a bunch of teens. Some skiied, some snowshoed, all had a lovely afternoon. The skis trail offer something for all levels, and go through some truly beautiful country. The snowshoers had a grand time forging their own trails through the trees and down the trails. We had a wonderful lunch, lotx of... More

What a piece of history. This place is a museum filled with Railroad Relics, prints of yesteryear and beautiful scenery in every direction. The train actually stops here from Chicago and from Seattle daily. I plan to ride the train over from Whitefish, Montana someday this summer just for the experience. By the way, the caboose shown in a photo... More

Our group of 13 came to the Izaak Walton Inn from Whitefish to do some XC skiing and snowshoeing. We arrived about 11 a.m., rented equipment for 10 of the 13, and went out for a nice 1.5 hour trek on the beautifully groomed trails nearby. We returned for lunch and had an incredible lunch! We enjoyed buffalo burgers, beef... More
