I bought a voucher through Crowd Cut for a two night stay and I have to say this place was a pleasant surprise. It was a little frustrating booking a room but that is to be expected with the limited number of rooms they have. The staff was extremely friendly and it was explained when we checked in all that... This is a rustic throw back to olden days kind of B & B. The building is beautiful and is accented with large fireplaces throughout. If you're looking for a quite, romantic place, this is a great pick. Above all, the customer service was above and beyond, especially Diana who went out of her way to accommodate us. We look... More

We stayed there Thursday April 11, 2013 Bummers: - TV in the room didn't receive any TV stations--could only be used for DVD's; - DVD player initially didn't work either, until owner spent some time jiggling cords and cables--then, it worked for playing a DVD, but the remote control didn't work, so you had to get up and go to... Dear guests, We appreciate your feedback. We can only improve where we know our weaknesses are. April can be a very ugly month for the Lodge: it is a little depressing to see the snow slowly receding and the rest of the grounds being a ‘grey and brown’ color . Hearing the possibility of more snow on its way can... More

We enjoyed the comfortableness of the place. The library was a fun place to hang out, as well as the main room on the first floor. We hope to get back when it's warmer to enjoy the trails in the area.

My friend and I purchased a Living Social Voucher for a 2 night, midweek stay...and had a wonderful time! We were treated so well by the staff, and enjoyed the extra special service from Molly and Diana that we had because we stayed during Spring Break (when they weren't very busy). We stayed in the Eva Peron room, and the... More

This was a gift from my husband for Christmas and I had the choice to bring him or go with some friends. Of couse I chose my husband. We made a day and night of it by doing things in Stillwater too. We had the Bob Dylan room and it was a nice room. I was not happy with the... More

My girlfriends and I do a girls overnight here about once a year, sometimes twice depending. It is always an enjoyable, peaceful place to stay. However, I was a little disappointed this time. Maybe it was because it was so cold outside, but the smaller of the two rooms in the Pablo Picasso suite just never got warm enough at... More

We appreciate your feedback. We can only improve where we know our weaknesses are. Regarding the snow plow and shovel, we pay an external vendor for this service. In general it is very good, prompt and reliable. We are not sure why it was not done yet at the time of your check out. If we had been told that... More

We LOVED it. Fascinating history and there is plenty of interesting reading material about it as well as a wonderfully eclectic library available for guests. We spent the night in the large and very comfortable Eva Peron room.Very comfortable bed and the big jacuzzi was wonderful. The property is old and has a lot of character - which means you... More

I stayed for one night in room 2 with three other people. The main room was large and nicely decorated with a fireplace that kept things warm. The connected smaller room, however, was freezing cold and I slept with my head under the covers all night. During the night, there was a constant clanking noise that I assume was coming... More

The grounds are beautiful. Having a studio to paint for 3+ hours was very nice. Enjoyed the fireside chat with Lee and Carlotta. Choco is a lovely mascott. Staff was very pleasant. Room was comfortable however the shower was difficult. Couldn't move the head and the water hit me in the face. Temperature went from warm to cold without warning.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
19th Century History Preserved at the Outing Lodge European style 19th century country home, surrounded by lawns and gardens with 300 acres of wooded park land ~ a place where people would go to get away from modern city life. Pine Point was founded in 1858 as Minnesota's second "poor farm," a home for the chronically indigent or those temporarily down on their luck. Stillwater was a wealthy community in 1850, the territorial capital. In this abundant atmosphere, a desire to help the less fortunate culminated in the construction of this poor farm. The prize-winning dairy farm became both a home and a workplace to thousands of needy for almost 100 years. When the farm was closed in 1957, the land was planted in pine trees, now Pine Point Park. The house went on for 20 years as a Rest Home. In the 1980s, to save it from proposed demolition, Lee Gohlike began its renovation. He gutted its interiors with a reverence for its historic past: wide-planked wooden floors cut from old pine beams provide a perfect backdrop to the many elegant antique furnishings, numerous candelabra and massive fireplaces. Featured in Midwest Traveler, Star Tribune and other local & national publications, this beautiful Georgian home is a destination for exclusive retreats & events. Guests enjoy cross-country skiing, horseback and biking trails connecting to the Metro system. Theme dinner calendar of events. ... more   less
