Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Door key wouldn't work in street side entrance. We stayed three nights and it was never fixed. Looked like someone had jerked door open on hall side and ripped off night lock. Had to flush toilet three times before feces was gone. Pad in bathtub dirty so couldn't take bath and stopper hard to remove so we could shower. All in all room unsatisfactory and ownership not seeming to be interested in improving it.

+ cheap
+ friendly staff

- you get what you pay for
- stuffy room with hint of smoke odor. had to crack the window open which gets to the next problem.
- truckers hanging out in parking lot chatting all night long. pretty annoying.
- bathroom wasn't properly cleaned. dirts in the bath tub, toilet seat still has some marks on it.
- two chairs are broken. there's no cushion support.
- one office chair that's available, is also dirty. had to use their towel to clean the chair.
- bedsheets seem clean, but from my observation, it probably wasn't changed from last use.
- "free" wifi is somewhat unreliable. (Verizon doesn't have 3G here, so there are no other options.)

I have to start out by saying that they're so darn nice at the Econolodge. Unfortunately for the Econolodge, EVERYONE in Southern Minnesota is nice.

Also, unfortunately for the Econolodge, I must agree with the reviewers that highlighted how run down the property is; paint peeling and rusting tiles in the bathroom, dirty walls, stained carpeting, dusty silk plants, to mention just a few of the most glaring issues.

Most unfortunately, "nice" doesn't translate into "good service." The housekeeper greeted me in the hallway on the morning after my arrival (nice), asked me if I needed anything (super nice) and when I said no, she decided that meant that she didn't need to clean my room (not good service).

Finally, while the breakfast spread looked promising, the breads and bagels were stale and because of that, I was afraid to try the hard-boiled eggs.

Thought I had gotten over the experience, but evidently not... such is the reason for a review a year later. Website showed a great property offering pool, restaurant and nice rooms, very close to the location of the event we were attending. Reality: pool area accessible but everything was torn up inside it, restaurant closed, room filled with trash from previous guest, car and stand up air fresheners everywhere in room, dangerous exposed wiring running thru wall into room into closet area, mold everywhere in bathroom and in mini fridge, trash EVERYWHERE on property, housekeeping "office" filled with trash, fire exits blocked by discarded furniture, person snorting drugs outside that chased me thru hotel when they saw I was taking videos of the condition of the property (he thought I had recorded him doing drugs). Manager/owner refused to refund us when we left right after checking in and proceeded to yell at me because I complained (recorded that conversation). Finally received compensation by complaining to Choice Hotels, but even that took months before it happened. Have not stayed at a Choice property since this experience. Tried to share several videos that were made, but this site only allows pictures, so have attached screen shots from the videos. Our stay was actually 6/24/2021, but this site only allowed me to choose dates back to October 2021.

We booked online sight unseen. When we arrived, we went in to view rooms before staying. This hotel is disgusting! The lobby smelled badly, the carpet was filthy at the front desk. The steakhouse had obviously been closed for years, the pool was not working, and the rooms were disgustingly dirty and smelly. I think Choice needs to send someone to check out this location. It does nothing for your Choice program. We stayed at many other Choice hotels that were wonderful on our trip. This one is BAD! We did not stay but went to the Super8 next door.

We found this hotel on line. It advertised a pool, sauna, breakfast as well as a restaurant attached. The room was nasty; everything was unplugged & the owner’s child was sent down to connect the TV. There was a small table but no chairs. There was a desk with no chair. The only chair was a stuffed chair in the corner with stains on it. The hall was filled with old furniture and used appliances. The pool was out of service and looked like it hadn’t. been in use for years. The advertised pool was the reason we chose this hotel. This hotel should NOT be listed on line,,

I must say that after reading the reviews I was very leery of staying at this hotel, however once in the door I was pleasantly surprised and greeted by the manager who seems to be there 24 hrs a day, but non the less very up beat knowledgeable of the area and last but not least will make your stay much more enjoyable with bubbly personality and always upbeat and his laugh no matter what will bring a smile to your face and is contagious is the only word that comes to mind. The property is extremally clean , I tried to find fault there really is non other than it needs to be updated a little. I was here for work for a total of 5 days the first time and 3 this time, If I could I would move here and get a job. There are big expectations for this place as well as the staff that are there I encourage all to try this place out if the rates are above your budget speak with the manager, he works with most! The pool is still closed as is the rest and lounge , I hear it is opening soon I cant wait. Thank you for making my time away from home such a memorable experience for me.. see yes next week when return. Keep up the great work!

The front was furniture sitting out side, glass all over the parking lot. I got there first and the smell was horrible and the same in the room, The refrigerator was moldy and they had car air fresheners on the unit, The dresser and table was broking, Then looked at the pool and hot tub area and was tore apart. We to get ice and the ice machine was dirty. I waited till my friend got there to show her because she booked the room. She said no way we are staying here and asked for our money back and they would not give our money back.

Manager was MIA.
Clerk ( 75 y.o.) couldn t operate computer. Web site mentionned a pool. That was a MUST for us. Pool had been closed since covid! Asked for a refund. Called choice hotel on site. No problem. Clerk said no problem.
Manager still charged us and put us as « no show ».
Called and wrote Choice hotels many times for the past 3 weeks: nothing has been done yet. They keep sending our file to higher levels of management.
Econolodge in Jackson Mn is poorly taken care of, very old motel, manager hard to find, hotel in middle of nowhere.
AVOID this hotel at all costs.
Dont be fooled by the web site.

Upon checking in the clerk(owner?) complained to us about another persons complaints. The bed in room 24 was comfortable and the area quiet BUT the room needs a good cleaning. Dirt spots on the door. Carpet filthy. And generally dirty. The Internet is not strong enough to reach much past the lobby - let alone in the room.
The breakfast was the worst we've been offered. Gravy just out of the fridge temperature. The toaster wouldn't turn on. Donuts slippery. We ended up not eating anything because it was so poor.
The water in the hot tub was brown. We wouldn't even think of swimming or relaxing in the hot tub.
