We planned to stay in or around Salers and this delightful hotel is 3 klms away. The staff, our room, the lounge and our evening meal were all excellent. The hotel is exquisite. We have been travelling the Back Roads of France visiting many beaux villages and we thoroughly recommend a visit to Salers and this hotel.
We only found this hotel by chance, courtesy of the sat nav on the car, but how lucky were we. Warm welcome lovely room and complete peace. the food was lovely and we stayed 2 nights instead of 1 because we liked it so much.
Why not coming back another time ?
We stayed 2 nights in June at this hotel and were very happy even if the weather did not really play along with. Room we stayed in was a Suite called the "soleil levant" and it was just great. Very big, nicely decorated, a big terrasse and 2 bathrooms. Dinner was ok. A...

An authentic landhouse, surrounded by a lush and well-kept garden, located in the countryside, quiet, in a very green valley (at least in spring...). Large and well appointed room, not the latest in design, but with a cozy and warm feel to it, and with a panoramic window and a terrace to enjoy the view over the valley and the...

I f you enjoy cowbells, mountain scenery, babbling brooks, good food, and comfortable rooms, you will love staying here. We sure did. The owner, Mr. Decock, is very hospitable and goes the extra mile to help you feel welcome. The building and restaurant are beautifully maintained. The rooms are very comfortable.
We have been visiting this beautiful hotel for many years, and have always found it a haven of peace and tranquility. After a long walk in the wonderful countryside, to sit on the balcony of our room with an aperitif , listening to the calls of buzzards and kites over the rocky crags behind the hotel is wonderfully relaxing. Madame...

Outwardly attractive enough but then you quickly observe it has a cheerless atmospher. A minor point, I know, but - on a hot evening - we soon found that the seats in the garden are more for show than for comfort. And the lounge - the only airconditioned part it...

This pricey, much-touted establishment failed to deliver. The bed was rock-hard, the room unattractive, and the food relatively mediocre.
After reading many positive comments in various guides, we booked for 2 nights in a regular room of this hotel.
What a disappointment: our room (number 9) was very small and the decoration felt very cheap and outdated.
Nevertheless the price was rather high: 115 Euros excluding breakfast!
That's a lot of money for such a small unattractive room in...
