Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This hotel was just ok. Renovated on the outside and in the lobby but the rooms were old (some cosmetic work). Sheets were really worn (pilled) and shower didn’t really work (barely any water came out of the shower head). I think we were seriously one of the few people that were in the entire hotel. If you’re visiting campus, try to find something a little closer

I've been staying at this hotel weekly since the start of January. Janice helped me with a few issues of customer service. Janice is patient, professional and kind. Similarly, Elizabeth should be recognized for her customer service skills. I keep coming back because of these two ladies and their exceptional service. It feels good to be recognized when I walk in as a "regular". The rooms are comfortable, and the hotel's proximity to the Capital City Market is a plus as well as having a Bistro on-site for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks (if you choose). I've already booked my next stay!

Decent size rooms in a decently clean hotel. Decent location near the east side Town Center. Could have stayed in different hotels and gotten a free breakfast buffet. Next time I probably will stay somewhere else. Overall rating - Meets Expectations

We stayed here for a family wedding. The rooms were OK. There were no carts for getting luggage to the room and the front desk didn't offer any help. There was no complimentary coffee in the lobby.

Response from Lansing Courtyard Front Desk, General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Lansing
Responded 30 Nov 2023
Dear Inspire782757, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience while staying with us. Your experience is below our standard. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and I sincerely apologize for failing to meet your expectations. I have shared your feedback with the front desk leadership team to ensure the necessary guidelines are in place and reviewed to prevent this issue from occurring in the future. Courtyards provide complimentary coffee inside the guest rooms; therefore, we do not offer complimentary coffee in the lobby due to our breakfast Bistro being open for purchase. I hope you choose to stay with us again when your travels bring you back to the area. Sincerely, Maria Johnson Assistant General Manager Courtyard by Marriott Lansing maria.johnson@hhchospitality.com 5174820500

Disappointing to pay such inflated parents weekend rates ($360/night) and receive such below standard services. Stayed 3 nights - requested room cleaning from the front desk on 2 occasions/mornings (one would have been standard, the other would have been an added one)…never received any cleaning/refresh the entire stay. Very, very musty smelling room. Glitchy TV. Not impressed.

The darkest, moldiest, least safe, most broken-down Marriott I have experienced in my heavily traveled lifetime. Just stay literally anywhere else... even if it's a back alley for the night. I can't believe this is an actual Marriott property.

Great accommodations here. I was very impressed with our room. I like a hotel where they make me feel welcome, where they feel it’s their job to serve the guests. I didn’t see that here anywhere. Checking in, we barely got a “hello”. The following morning I went to The Bistro to get something to drink and no one was behind the counter. Two women were sitting at a table, one on a cell phone, and they were talking with language like a couple of middle school students. I learned a lot from the conversation: one woman had a bad transmission in her car. When another guest walked up one of these ladies got up, and I discovered she was actually working there. She took care of the guest, and the other woman, while still on her phone, came to help. Embarrassing. When I went to check out at 8:51am there was no one at the front desk. A sign indicated the worker was on a break and would be back at 9:10. Really? When I want to check out, I don’t want to wait. I’ve NEVER encountered that in 58 years.

So disappointing. This place was nice at one point I am sure. The room was okay, it was clean. The air conditioning didn't work correctly. This was an issue based on the time of year with the heat and the hotel's price. The real issue was when speaking with the front desk person who we checked in he said "yeah you gotta mess with it." Then when we checked out the new person immediately said yeah it doesn't work. No sorry, no can we do something to make it right, nothing. This shows the hotel knows about an issue is not fixing it. There used to be a time when you could have confidence in what you would get with Marriott in the name, not so much anymore.

The hotel hallways/rooms smell like cigarettes, the pictures on their site are outdated. The pool wasn't kept clean. The beds were comfortable and front desk were polite, but I definitely won't book at this hotel again.

This is an okay Courtyard but needs some attention. We were given rooms just off the second floor just off the restaurant and were directed the fastest route to the room. But we weren’t told that the room was located on the complete opposite side of the property from the elevator, meaning that we had a good hike ahead of us since the property is U-shaped on the second floor. Also, breakfast was good but the dining room tables were all dirty although the room was not crowded.
