Just back from my daughters dance competition that was held this weekend at Kellogg Arena. I booked this room back in August 2014 - 6 months ago!! I reserved a 2 queen bed room. Called last week to verify my room. Arrived Friday evening at 530pm. Walked to the front desk where there was a lot of commotion & very angry patrons. I waited my turn to find out that there were NO two queen bed rooms available. The guy checking me in said there was a water main break & it was beyond their control. (??) He said it was 1st come 1st serve for the queen beds and we were too late. He offered $10 off the rate. I did not have a choice we had no place to stay. He said he would TRY to get us a rollaway. 4 people in a king bed for 2 nights is not acceptable to me. Everyone was frustrated, I felt sorry for the kid. He said his manager Felix had left for the night and left the front desk to handle all the upset customers! Get my keys and get to my room. Had to call back at 9pm for the rollaway that was never delivered. FINALLY, get the bed with a sheet & one thin blanket. Nicely requested another blanket for my 5 year & a pillow. She brings up right away. An hour or so later I call and request another bath towel. Being a king room there was only 3 towels in the room. There are 4 of us, we need 4 towels. The kid was very rude at this point "I will see what I can do" ... NEVER got my towel. Uhhh, I guess my husband and I can share???? Then the kicker: my husband comes upstairs after awards around 11pm ... hears something in the bathroom. Looks over & there is black crud coming up from the bathroom drain! The bathtub was seriously backing up. It was disgusting!! Now I am really hot. We have to be up at 545am & all need showers in the morning! My husband goes downstairs to state his concerns. They did offer to move us to another hotel and pay the cost, which is nice but it is close to midnight at this point. He wanted another room, she stated no rooms. After talking a bit she said "ok, I do have this room you can have ..." Not sure why it wasn't offered right away? She said she would get someone to move the bed upstairs to the new room (the rollaway). We pack up and move to the new room. My husband decided he would just move the bed upstairs since no one thought it was as urgent as us to get our girls back to bed at midnight. The room was smaller but at least we had a shower :) ... We had taken our towels from the other room and were all set for Saturday morning. Come Sunday morning I forgot to check for towels and went to take a shower and only had 2 towels. 0_0 You would think the maid would see the rollaway with two pillow, two stuffed animals and give us more than two towels. Friday night no manager. Saturday when we went to desk no manager. Checked out Sunday afternoon and guess what NO MANAGER! *** What I found very interesting is that TWO associates told us that there was not a water main break (they said that happened 6 months ago!! They were told to say that! They said the hotel was overbooked.) The associates were very frustrated. Some were very helpful during the whole situation but some were very rude at the front desk. My room was booked back in August. Pretty sure 95% before others reserved. I should have had my queen room. No excuses in my book.

Wanted to add last time we were here we ate at the restaurant on property. It was convenient to not have to leave. This year the restaurant was buffet only! Again told by the associates that last year they couldn't handle the crowd so they went to the buffet this year. $15 for the worst food ever! I wish I had taken pictures. The dessert bar was cookies covered in gummy worms. So weird! It looked the idea backfired on them because every time we walked by the place was empty.

I am appreciative the McCamly Hotel offers military discounts -- thank you. However, our one night stay just was not good. We happened to be staying during a convention. Their parking lot was absolutely booked. Parking costs, but they had no room. And they were not willing to help find another over night location for our car. They said there were several public parking spots for over $20 a night where I would have to cross the street and walk several blocks. They refused to compensate the price difference. The hotel is connected to the convention center, which had its own parking garage (did not have to go outside to get to car). The problem with that was $8 every time you go in and out. There was not in-out privilege. So I had to pay to leave for dinner, pay to leave to go shopping, and pay to leave to go touristing. I asked to speak to a manager -- not sure if the gentlemen with whom I spoke was the real manager but he refused to comp the difference between what I would have paid with them and what I paid to the convention center. The hotel was nice, the room was nice, but the parking experience really made our one night stay unpleasant. Oh, the next day when it was time to check out, the bell hop REFUSED to let me borrow the trolley to the convention center garage and he would not help me either as I was parked in the convention center parking garage. I was not paying another $8 to drive my car around to then repark it again as the check out time earlier than I had planned to leave Battle Creek area. It took me 5 trips back and forth through the hotel lobby to the convention center to the garage to my car. I was late on their check out -- different crew from the day before and I explained why I was late. They were understanding, but still would not credit anything back to the room for the parking situation.

We had a convention here where the facilities were sufficient. The hotel was clean, yet the style and facility was really old. Though friendly, the registration staff however could not have been any slower. With a convention of hundreds, they made everyone register at the same time with two computers, that seemed to breakdown after every registration. The entire process took the whole day with a disgruntled set of international guests. The location seemed safe, but not a lot of good restaurants in the area to choose from.

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately, during this time I remember we were having some technical issues with the front desk programs. I am very sorry for the delay in your check-in process. I will let you know that we have currently undergone some renovations to help speed up the check-in process as well as opened our pool, updated rooms, and brand new fitness center. We hope to be able to welcome you back to the McCamly Plaza Hotel in the near future to experience our new amenities, and gain a whole new experience with us. Sincerely, Ryan Thurston

My mom and I stayed there for the weekend. I called ahead because there was a managers promotion on the website, free valet parking and a $10 credit to the restaurant or the Starbucks. No one knew anything about it, but the girl I talked to on the phone said to bring a printout and the would honor it. I then called to check if there was a fridge in the room, and since there wasn't, they upgraded me for free. I was very happy until I got there. They tried to move us back to the original room. Then still no one knew anything about the managers special. Finally, Nicole, who acted like a manager, said to give it to me. We got to the "newly renovated" room, and the dead bolt did not work. Someone was suppose to come up, buy did not. Then the next day, the fridge somehow got turned off. Though it was fine when we left. I lost about $30 worth of food. While checking out, the front desk manager, who was the rudest manager I have ever had contact with, I told him the problem. He didn't seem to care. The other girl at the desk did not seem surprised. And I had been charged for the "free" valet service. He started to argue with me. I told him I talked to 2 people who said this would be honored and he started to get loud with me. And he said that Nicole, who was the only person who actually helped me, said that she was only the manager of the restaurant, and she should have said they would honor it. In the end, they took off the valet charge...UNTIL I got my credit card bill and they charged a separate $10 charge!! I wrote an email to the general manager and heard nothing. I will NEVER stay there again!!

This hotel is the best in the city but it is very dirty and very worn out. The bedspreads were very dirty, the bathroom tile full of mold, and one of the lights broken. The staff do not seem to care; they seem to just be working a job. The restaurants are average.

This place should be shut down. The way they conduct buisness is sad. I am surprised as to how rude the staff is. We booked 5 rooms in November and we arrived today only 3 rooms are right. I called last night and was told ALL 5 rooms were on SAME FLOOR AND DOUBLE BEDS! Guess what there not. The lying from your staff and unfriendliness for your guest you should be ashamed. Word of mouth will kill you and I. WILL SEND A LETTER TO EVERY WTESTLING CLUB IN MICHIGAN AND TELL THEM TO BOOK SOME WHERE ELSE NEXT YEAR! Wrestlers are like family and support each other so with that being said!! I hope you have lots of open rooms next year because you don't care about the people you screwed over this year

I checked in with a bald scrawny guy and everything went fine, I’ve stayed here many times. During this stay I watched him ask a woman if he could show her the “views” from the top floor. Creep. Is the hotel not aware of the movement across our country right now holding men accountable for this very behavior? Absolutely shocking.

Boy are we glad to be home !! We were in Battle Creek for a 14 year old baseball World Series. Hotel was discusting !! Very dirty. We were there for several days and our room was never cleaned properly. Staff was rude and less than helpful. We are a seasoned travel ball family. We stay in hotels nearly every weekend all summer long and this was the worst experience we have ever had. Be wary and watch your credit card charges !!

DO NOT STAY HERE! The front desk staff was terribly rude and on the our first morning, we woke up to no hot water. My wife and I both took terrbibly cold showers and when we got to the front desk the told us that there was no hot water in the entire hotel. They did offer a $10 credit on our room, which never posted to our credit card.

I travelled for five hours for my daughter's cheerleading competiton and had a two night's stay booked here. Upon arrival I was told that I would not be guaranteed a 'non-smoking' room as they were all booked even though I had booked my reservation online with the request 3 MONTHS PRIOR. The staff couldn't have cared less and booked me on a smoking floor regardless of my complaints. The rooms were filthy, remote didn't work. Did not have MAID SERVICE the entire time I was there even after three calls to the front desk. Room service was disgusting. This hotel should be rated half a star if even that. I would never go here again!!!!!!!!!!
