The girlfriend and I stayed for a quick getaway to Salem and Gloucster for the night. Staff was quick to accept our reservation. Not to far from Salem and in a quiet neighborhood. Room was warm and cozy and just right for a one night stay. Private bath was acceptable and would recommend the location to others.

Stopped here on our way to Nova Scotia on a three week East Coast tour. Great 'bones' and location but not much more. Sitting atop a bluff, the exterior of the building is beautiful with a front room view of the water. Inside, the rooms are dated, in need of re-furbishing and unattractive. Our bed had no head or foot... More

Thanks Thomas, from Natalie and Patrick in Austin, TX for your amazing hospitality! I would highly recommend this place. It was very clean and the views from the second story were great with a view of Gloucester Harbor. It was a short walk to Niles Beach which was amazing to watch the sunset. The art colony was very neat and... More

We had a one-night stay and were upgraded (without asking) to a larger room on the first floor. Very low-key with a nice view of water across the street. Very clean throughout. The rooms are not really decorated but it works. The bathroom was tiny with a low ceiling that you could bump your head on. To make up for... More

I have read all the reviews before I booked this hotel. Some good reviews, some NOT so good. I am a somewhat picky person in choosing places to stay. 1st off, Tom the innkeeper was friendly, helpful, funny and always there if you needed him ( all you needed to do was knock on his door or call his cell).... This B&B was wonderful! The staff were friendly and helpful. Our rooms were clean, albeit a little outdated, but this added to the charm. We were only a mile or two in one direction from the lighthouse, and a mile or two from many restaurants and shops in Gloucester. I would highly recommend this B&B!

We booked a 2 night stay at The Colonial Inn thinking we were getting a cozy comfortable experience as described by the owner Tom. Upon arrival, we were led up a dingy staircase to a room in need of an extreme makeover. Soiled linens, towels with stains and a sink in need of updated plumbing repairs. Oh, and yes, there... More

We are certainly disappointed that the guest who wrote the critique of our Inn had such a negative experience during his stay. Like all businesses (we have been a successful Inn for more than 40 years), we value input, both positive and negative, to improve on our products and services. After several "re-readings" of his input, we respectfully disagree with... More

We stayed at the Colonial Inn for a weekend in Rocky Neck, and the place has its pros and cons. As for pros, the location is great, walking distance to Rocky Neck, walking distance to a beach, and just down the road from sites like the Sleeper-McCann house/Beauport. Plenty of parking, a nice deck with chairs, and places to sit... More

This beautiful home built in the mid 1800's holds such charm and is totally what the American dream is all about. Holding on to what is true and dear to us....history. The home was owned by a a fisherman, Captain Patch. His legacy lives on because of these innkeepers so whether you are into history or just looking for a... More

We just returned from a week at the Colonial Inn. We had never stayed at a B&B in the past so I wasn't sure what to expect. The Inn is an old sea captain's house with a great deal of charm -- nothing fancy but very comfortable. Our room was large with three beds, bath, small refrigerator, a non-working but... More
