Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My daughter’s friends hosted her baby shower here because it was centrally located to make it easy for guests coming from long distances. It was a pleasure to work with the staff who outdid themselves to make sure everything was perfect and everyone was welcome and comfortable. The food was delicious and the venue was wonderful. The event location overlooked York Harbor and featured a stone fireplace , beautifully paneled bar, and a mix of tables and banquets to seat 40. Several guests liked it so much they plan on returning for another weekend. Many, many thanks to Emily, Bree, Noelle, and Santiago for helping make this so memorable.

I loved this place. It is located right across the street from a garden park and then down the hill is a city beach. So once you get yourself checked in, head over across the street. Beautiful dining room has views of the water. One drawback is that many of the rooms have to be reached by stairs, and there are no elevators to reach them. So not good if you have difficulty climbing stairs. Not recommended for people with arthritic knees and hips.

Loved the atmosphere of this restaurant but the snacks and the service were not what I expected. We were looking for some snacks and drinks after doing the Cliff Walk. We had chips and salsa which was mediocre at best - dry chips, lackluster salsa, and no cheese. I assume that since the only other things we had were coffee and ginger ale, the server lost interest in us. Took us forever to get her to bring the bill.

Stopped in for a drink at the beautiful downstairs bar and ended up staying for dinner. Cozy, warm ambiance with super friendly staff. The lobster Mac and cheese was just fantastic-lots of lobster and an exquisite cheese sauce. Great salad and a sundae for dessert, too. Just a wonderful place.

We stayed here in June 2023. These are very cute cottages but they are not close to the ocean like they advertise. We had the end cabin which is a studio. It is supposed to have a view of the ocean and this is not true at all. Your view is of a natural field area. In order to get to the ocean you need to walk a path which is a little ways but the ocean in this area is completely unusable. It is not a nice beach area and the ocean is very rough so you cannot go in the water here at all unfortunately. The cottage was very cute and all we needed. It would have been nice if the wood windows would have opened but they would not too much weather damage and they looked very old. The price was quite high for what you really got.

The picture on their website of the Country Inn Room in the main inn shows a cheery, clean well appointed abode. What we got was a tired, paint chipped room with mismatched furniture complete with carpet stains and sub par bedding. This section of the Inn is in dire need of a complete redo.

My wife and I have stayed at York Harbor Inn several times over the years. It's a beautiful property in historic York Harbor with wonderful ocean views. The entire staff is very friendly in the inn, the dining room, and the pub. The food and dining experience is excellent. Minutes from the inn is a breathtaking ocean walk alongside beautiful mansions that hug the Atlantic coast. One of the nicest getaways in all of New England!

Been going to the YHI for over 30 years. the rooms, especially in the main inn are in dire need of remodeling. We had to switch rooms to a different building because the room we booked, that said recently remodeled, definitely was not. It was horrible. Our last several visits were in rooms that were very poorly furnished and decorated, had poor bedding, dirty carpets. Sad to say, we won’t return.

The Inn is beautiful. The restaurants are good and the prices are reasonable. Our rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. There's a park across the street that's pleasant for walking. We were visiting family in the area and the Inn was convenient to Portsmouth and Kittery. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you, York Inn!
