we have just visited this lovely pub for the 3rd time. Twice in one weekend I might add!!Ideal for walking around Skirmitt, Ibstone, Turville and the surrouding villages. Its difficult to believe that such a lovely area exsists so close to home(uxbridge!) Good choice of menu with good portion sizes and they even serve it on a sunday so you... More

Visited this pub with my brother for a bite to eat with my brother, following a visit to Chiltern Valley Winery a few miles away. Had not meant to review following such a short visit, but shocked to see adverse comments re staff attitudes, feel the need to redress. The two bar maids on duty at the time of our... More

There's an area around if you look on a map on the left hand side of the M40 that stretches from Henley on Thames up to Oxford that has what most be some of the most stunning pubs you can find in the UK. It's so selfish that they have this many - hidden along country roads in pulchritudinous villages... More

Went with a group of colleagues on a training course. The pub itself was rustic and everything I expected; good beer, open fire, comfortable and welcoming. The food however was a disappointment. Most were satisfied but my Hake with new potatoes cooked with chorizo was ordinary. The Hake was nicely cooked but tiny, the potatoes dull, boring, unappetising, undercooked and... More

We have often walked past The Frog so decided to treat ourselves to a night there with dinner. When a building is 250 years old having modern facilities must be a nightmare. Our room was small but it had a king size bed, a small bathroom with the requested shower, tea and coffee making facilities and a good tv. Everything... More

Had a table booked at The Frog half way around a walk in The Chiltern Hills. Had a very good Sunday lunch in a very pleasant pub in a super area. Service and food ware great. No problems at all and looking forward to returning at some point.

I am sorry to have to say that the grumpy landlady really let down what could probably have been the end to a lovely bank holidays recreation. i am sure that the fact that everyone was out for a New Years Walk , making it a busy afternoon may have contributed to her manner but, that is no excuse for... Was due to meet a friend here - sadly she was stuck in a traffic jam but I decided to eat anyway. The food here is on the whole excellent. The Ham wellington especially was superb. There was an excellent selection of real ales and some good wines. What was really outstanding was the service. The location is a way... More

As a getaway from london life we always like to spend a weekend away, but not to far, and this place was perfect. Skirmet is a beautiful little place with some nice walks around the Hambleden valley and the frog was the perfect end to these country walks. The food was outstanding and the staff polite. We ate in the... More

We stayed at the Frog last weekend. The room was great, dinner and breakfast were both amazing, and the staff were all friendly. Roaring fire in the bar, and good walks from the doorstep. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone.
