This is a very nice family (and pet) friendly hotel in a great location. Rooms and common areas were very clean, gym was nice, pool was bigger than expected though slightly chilly, and the staff was friendly, helpful and responsive. Old Port and its restaurants and shops are a very short walk away. Would definitely look to book here for our next Portland visit!

Very grateful for the hotel as everybody wore masks, breakfast was available with smoothies in enclosed cups, all cereal in boxes, apples wrapped to keep it clean, the cups wrapped too. There is an extra $20 per day of valet but we are grateful for extra security since we brought our own bikes.

Due to its excellent location we enjoyed excellent restaurants and even walked to the art museum.
We biked to see the sunrise. The coast trail has old trains part of the museum and just lovely sights (also can enjoy by walking)

We decided to venture out on our first trip since COVID and decided visiting a state where we we've been - so we chose Maine. After reading the reviews and see that we could book the Hampton with points, it was an easy decision. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon and were warmly greeted by Marla. She was super friendly, fast and efficient at check-in. She was around quite about during our 3 nights here, and always greeted us with a smile and a friendly hello. We found both the hotel and room itself to be very clean. The hotel lobby and common areas were always sparkling clean, and we felt very safe on the premises. The room itself (#311) was fantastic and had tons of natural light. It came with a fridge and microwave, which came in handy. One thing to note and that we didn't have a problem with: there is no housekeeping done in your room while you're checked in, but they still provide anything extra you would need. The biggest area for improvement would be to have housekeeping spend extra time cleaning the bathroom. The walls were pretty gross around the shower, and had some sort of unidentified staining. We also noted hair and other gunk inside the shower and on the shower door. That aside, our stay was pretty much perfect. We were especially pleased with the location, as it provided easy access to many restaurants/ bars/ coffee shops in the area. I'd recommend the Hampton without hesitation if you ever find yourself in Portland. We hope to be back very soon! PS, they offer a free continental breakfast that is more than adequate!

Staff was excellent rooms are spacious and comfortable plus sanitize for our safety. Valet parking is offered at 20 dollars a day rooms are clean before you arrive and after you leave. Breakfast is available in the lobby as well. Location is great 2 blocks from waterfront and within walking distance of many restaurant and breweries.

The hotel room and atmosphere was great! Clean room and well taken care of. However, I had a major issue with the parking situation. In order to park on the hotel premises, they require you to use valet for a $20 cost. During these times with covid I asked if it was okay if I parked my car as I did not feel comfortable letting a stranger in my car touching my steering wheel and such; the man in charge of valet said no and gave me no other options. As I observed him doing his job and parking multiple cars, he had his mask below his chin, did not use gloves while getting into the cars, and did not sanitize/wash his hands once in between handling vehicles and different peoples keys. The day of check out, I had a different man pull my car up and he too did not use any gloves or sanitize between vehicle use. The hotel did a fantastic job in cleaning the rooms and making sure things were cleaned/sanitized, but they need to do the same for out in the parking lot as it seems a bit reckless in the way the valet employees enter and exit vehicles with improper mask use and no hand washing/sanitation.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and found everything well executed. The breakfast offerings went beyond the usual hotel fare even during this time when places are not doing waffles and eggs. Quality was good. The location of the hotel is great if you are seeking access to the waterfront. At the end of the day, considering we paid over $400 a night for a room, I think there are comparable places for less if you can plan ahead.

The hotel is located downtown, steps from great shopping, restaurants and nightlife options. The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable - we had a "water view" room that essentially allowed us to see a sliver of water above the rooftops, not much of an upgrade but the price difference was minimal. The valet parking add-on was a bit disappointing, but we only stayed one night which made it more palatable. Good to be aware of the addition $20/day charge for longer stays, however. The staff was quick to retrieve our vehicle on checkout, and the breakfast was a decent spread - nothing fancy, but good to fill up on in a pinch.

Outstanding location close to the harbor and a multitude of good restaurants in what is now a "foodie" destination. Valet parking was reasonably priced ($20/night) in a private and what appeared to be a relatively secure lot. Check in @3PM was quick and efficient. Room was basic on the top floor and well away from elevators and most hall traffic. Housekeeping was offered but we declined. Prices for hotel rooms mid summer were ridiculously high for mid range hotels like the Hampton (they get $500 plus for basic room). I was fortunate and was able to us Hiltonhonors points for our 2 night stay. Breakfast was always mobbed and tables were at a premium. Dining area wasn't the cleanest. We opted for a quick bagel/muffin and a coffee and left. We used the business center briefly to get checked in for our flights and print boarding passes. Staff was helpful with this effort. In the future I believe I would pass on this hotel and Portland in general during summer early fall season given incredibly high prices.

We were greeted with very friendly employees who were very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and comfy. The place had lots of hand sanitizer stations and always hot coffee and ice machines and offered water when we arrived and when we departed. All the extra little things mean a lot.

We chose this hotel for the location for our first visit to Portland, Maine. We were not disappointed. It was great being in what is called Old Port District. It is not so much about the views but the area. I loved the cobblestone streets, the port, and wonderful old buildings in an active downtown and port. Fore Street Restaurant nearby is a lovely example of a great historic building with charm. Make reservations for the good restaurants early.
The hotel was very comfortable with large room, quiet and clean. I am gluten free, which often means a limited hotel breakfast, but I enjoyed very good cut-up fruit, better than the typical scrambled eggs and sausage.
I appreciated the front desk staff and valet for advice on the area and light house directions. A very nice female front desk employee on October 17 was very helpful with a special request. Valet was $20 and worth it for the downtown location,
