My wife and I have visited and stayed in small inns and bed & breakfasts across the US and Europe. Our stay at The 1774 Inn was truly special, a once in a lifetime experience - except that we can't wait to go there again!
We stayed at the Inn for a short break in September with friends of ours...

- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
-
The 1774 Inn, officially known as the McCobb-Hill-Minott House in the National Register of Historic Places, was built between 1773 and 1774 and is a fine example of a pre-Revolution Colonial mansion. Situated on the unspoiled Phippsburg peninsula in Midcoast Maine, it overlooks the majestic Kennebec river and is a haven for guests to relax in and discover this most beautiful part of rural and historic America.Owned and run by Anglo-Irish couple John Atkinson and Jacqueline Hogg, the Inn has been redecorated and refurbished throughout, combining contemporary comfort and elegance within its 238-year old walls. Nearby are miles of sandy beaches, hiking trails and local restaurants, with the shops and town amenities of Bath and Brunswick within easy reach.
