My wife and I stayed in the room"Dauntless" in September. The view was unbelieveable! The Ocean, Acadia Mountains and small Islands off Mt Desert Island. We saw some spectacular Sunrise and Sunsets from this room and deck. Great view from the king size bed room plus a cozy sitting room and private Bathroom with a Claw Foot Tub. The Inn... More

Maine hospitality at it's finest. Location heaven. Amenities very comfortable. Can't wait to return! Great to be away from Bar Harbor with it's overload of cruise ships and jaded restaurant servers. More

I stayed in the suite Dauntless for four nights. It has a beautiful view of the ocean and mountains from the comfortable king size bed. We saw amazing sunrises and sunsets. We could see all the mountains of the National park. It had a very cozy sitting room and the bath tub was a unique clawfoot type. The staff where... More

This is a great option for those looking to be a bit removed from Bar Harbor. I agree with some of the other reviews here that the Moorings Inn is a quaint option. The bed was really comfortable and it was awesome to sit out on the lawn in the morning to watch the boats coming and going from the... More

We stayed in the Island Queen room. When we arrived a was glad to stay only for one night. That was the most expensive and rotten place and we had on our two week tour throughout Maine. It was very disappointing when we arrived. We got this as a wedding present and the room looked totally different from what was... More

Dear Guest, Island Queen is part of the lighthouse wing that extends from the main house of the inn toward the water. It is an appealing room with its amenities of kitchenette, king size bed, and ocean deck. However, it is not in the main house of the inn. Per your review we have had our electrician re-evaluate the wiring... More

We stayed in the Starboard room and this was our second trip to this room. Cozy room with a wood stove that we enjoy along with a nice balcony. Very small shower and no bathtub. The toiletries are poor quality for an Inn of this standard. The bed is a problem because you need to climb over the person on... More

The staff was nice, but that's about all positive we can say about this place. The access ramps are dangerous, and the parking is too far away for handicapped individuals. No handicapped spots "nearer" the inn. The driveway needs upgrading, with many holes that were full of water from the steady, driving rain (not their fault). The room (Island Queen)... More

We just returned from five days at the Moorings Inn and are, already, looking forward to going back. We knew it was a typical Maine bed/breakfast and were not expecting the Ritz. What we weren't anticipating was the spectacular location and the outstanding staff. Not only does the Inn's broad lawn and rocky beach provide you with panoramic views of... More

Way overpriced even for the Bar Harbor area. I’m always concerned with hotels that demand full payment up front and have a very limited cancellation policy; and when we got there it is obvious why they have it. The Moorings could be considered quaint or it could be considered tired. Just depends on your frame of mind and what you... More

Dear Guest, The Moorings Inn main house has a history of additions with the original structure built in 1784. My family has five generations of innkeeping in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Much of what you see has been acquired throughout this time. New items and renovations continue to update the inn. This is a blend of historical antiques and comfort. Your... More

My wife and I booked this hotel/b@b based on the pictures on their web site. They looked lovely. Unfortunately, the room we had, Pilot House, was first furnished in vintage flea market furniture. The furniture, moreover, was dirty and uncomfortable. This was hardly a recipe for a pleasant, enjoyable and restful visit. Each day the maid came to basically replace... More

Dear Pilot House Cottage Guest, Your rental of our furnished cottage, with full kitchen and household facilities is organized for an independent stay here on the coast of Maine. Our cottages receive light daily housekeeping. Often, as during your stay, guests request to not receive housekeeping services. We respect their privacy. Our housekeeping staff does not handle vacancy information. I... More
