Everything about this place is excellent: the location is a very short walk from the center of town; the hospitality is exemplary; the gourmet breakfasts the two days we were there were scrumptious and imaginative; the room was comfortable; the innkeepers make it a point to call everyone by name and treat you as old friends; reliable advice on where... We stayed in the Caroline room (named after Maryanne's mother) which was recently renovated from top to bottom on May 17 to 19, 2013. It was fantastic. We had our own separate entrance, which doubles as a small art gallery featuring beautiful fabric artwork from Panama as well as many of Bill's wooden art sculptures which other guests might never... This was my first time visiting the Hawthorn Inn and from the beginning I felt very welcome. Maryanne and Bill are a warm, fun-loving and gracious couple willing to help in any way they can. The Inn is decorated with attention to every detail. Fresh flowers everywhere. The surroundings are neat and clean. A delicious breakfast was offered each morning... More

This is my third visit to the Hawthorn Inn in 10 years and the most enjoyable visit to date. The owner and innkeeper, Maryanne, works hard to ensure that the needs of each guest are met and surpassed. Rooms at the inn are spacious and spotless and full of special touches and amenities which make for a peaceful stay. The... More

I have visited the Hawthorn Inn several times during the last 9 years, sometimes twice in one year, and always look forward to returning to this beautiful Inn, and Camden, the picturesque town that it is located in. I have stayed in a number of the Hawthorn Inn's rooms, all of which are spacious, clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. Many have... More

I've visited this Inn countless times and always am struck by the warm greetings from owner Maryanne who never forgets a visitor. The Inn is impeccable -- sparkling windows, bathrooms, linens, decor, grounds and ambience. The breakfasts are imaginative, delicious, tasty, and a fabulous send off for a lively day of Innkeeper-recommended activities.

I have many lovely memories of the Hawthorn Inn from prior visits, and a visit this weekend affirms all the good things I've said about this beautiful Inn and it's proprietor Maryanne Shanahan. The Inn has had several updates since my last visit, the most notable being the enhanced garden and outdoor areas: multi-layered decks with an array of springtime... More

This was our first time going to a B&B and it was spectacular! The inn itself was beautiful, and our room, the Norfolk, was large, clean, quiet, and relaxing! The jacuzzi tub was a wonderful way to end each evening. The organic and vegetarian breakfast each morning was phenomenal! The town had a lot of shops and local eateries. We... More

My girlfriend and I wanted to visit Maine during the off-season for a weekend and researched where to stay for what seemed like forever. Most places in Camden had decent reviews, so we eventually decided to call a couple places to speak with them directly about rooms and reservations. The Hawthorn Inn was the second place we called and I... More

We booked our anniversary weekend at the inn using a groupon. The booking process was very simple and Maryann helped to recommend a room. I had seen on their website that if you told them it was your anniversary or a special event to mention it to them, here is what their website says, "To celebrate milestone events such as... More
