The owners of the Hotel Manning have done an amazing job preserving the 1800s riverboat era character of the Hotel Manning, located in Van Buren county seat Keosauqua. The property has character, charm and a great location on the banks of the Des Moines river. The two rooms that face the river are higher priced than the other but well worth it. There is the main historic hotel that has been restored to a period appearance. The bedrooms are all upstairs & are decorated with beautiful old style beds/furniture and fabrics. I am not sure that all have private baths. No elevator so you have to be able to climb that big staircase. Not frilly/fancy/upscale but felt very original to the 1800s.... More
