The property has character, charm and a great location on the banks of the Des Moines river. The two rooms that face the river are higher priced than the other but well worth it. “Historic & interesting, no real frills but clean; would stay again.”

There is the main historic hotel that has been restored to a period appearance. The bedrooms are all upstairs & are decorated with beautiful old style beds/furniture and fabrics. I am not sure that all have private baths. No elevator so you have to be able to climb that big staircase. Not frilly/fancy/upscale but felt very original to the 1800s.... More
