Illness in family so called to cancel and since was not 21 days out, no. Would lose points and $. Very unaccommodating. It is parents weekend at the college so I asked if I could get someone else to take the room from us. Because I am sure someone else needs it, all the rooms in town are sold out. Manager Jo was very rude, dismissive and said can't unless another family member took it? Like work with me here to come to a solution. I asked if she was kidding me about not being able to have someone else take the room and she hung up on me. I thought was an accident and when I called back she would pick up the phone and then hang up or just let it ring off the hook. The most unprofessional experience I have had with a Hilton manager. Not sure what the end game is with her. The room will be filled.

Hotel's Favourite
We were in town to visit the University of Iowa. This hotel was perfectly located for us. Only a 5 min drive to the parking garage we needed on campus. When we checked in, we were told that the pool was unavailable because of swimming lessons being held in the pool. Our kids (15 & 18) were not necessarily interested in the pool. If our kids had been younger, this would have been upsetting because the first thing they would have wanted to do is swim after a 4.5 hour car ride. We were disappointed to find out that the hot tub was out of order until the next day- we were only staying one night. It happens, but it was a plus when booking this hotel.

This is a great location for someone passing through on a north/south route, east to get in and out of Iowa City! It’s also close to the University. The lobby and breakfast area is light and bright and our room was very nice. Only negative was that one of the pillowcases was yellowish and I wondered if it had missed being changed. P.S. Lots of great restaurants in the University area.

The property is in the process of "being updated" My room appeared to have new carpet but all the furniture and linens were old. The fitted sheet had a 1 inch rip and was almost see-through. The pillow cases were very thin and showed the yellowed pillow protectors through them. The towels were small, thin, and rough. The ceiling was stained from roof leaks. I could never get the internet to connect and heard from others when it did connect it was slow. The breakfast was mediocre, same potatoes both days and eggs on first day were rubbery and no flavor. On my last day, I went back to my room before checking out and found a painting crew had let themselves in and proped the door open. I mentioned this to management, and their response was that the room had been empty for four days, and they did not understand how I got into that room. I showed them the room number and assigned mobile key in the app. The response was we don't know what happened, but that was not supposed to be your room.

This hotel is in need of a renovation. Things were beat up. The luggage carts were old and dirty. Carpets and elevator were dirty in spots. Not at the same level I am used to at a Hampton inn. The price was exorbitant because there was a game in town. Felt like price gouging. $350+ for one night in a std king room. Outrageous.

I loved the room. It is older decor but the room, shower, Tv, bed and amenities were A+ for me. My one complaint is that it is a hotel where the AC/ Heater fan blows nonstop despite anything you do to the thermostat and is positioned right to the bed. It is also right by the Television so it drowns it out and you have to turn the TV up full blast From a location point of view, as others mentioned, it’s not particularly within walking distance of anything. There is an Asian restaurant and that is about it The breakfast was very good Hotel style breakfast- hot and fresh I will end the review by saying that I was disappointed most of all in this visit because I was just in town only for a quick hospital visit and asked for a hospital discount which I either didn’t get or was misrepresented on the hospital sheet. Its not even about the money so much as I would say that it was part of the most frustrating check in experience I have had in awhile, and in any case, tired and not wanting to go anywhere else, at a certain point, I just was happy they got me checked into a room at all. There are two Hamptons in the area and I have now stayed at both. They are both fine hotels. But there are simply too many hotels in this area that I would ever recommend either one. From the fact of there being such a short drive, I would suggest a number of Coralville area stays before any of the Hampton choices.

I called the hotel number rather than reserving online because we needed room close to door. I specified our needs and that my husband was on crutches. The room we were given was second furthest from elevator. Monica the manager told us not all the rooms were clean because some staff called in. When I mentioned I called she said you have to watch the internet , there's lots of fake stuff - yet they had my reservation on file, just not the right room. We wanted a king, she offered two queens. She then proceeded to say our special request was not noted on reservation, and that our membership defaults showed highest floor furthest from elevator. We've never been in app to select preferences. My husband is standing there on crutches and rather than try to accommodate she offered excuses and accusations, arguments. She charged us for a room and refused refund. The worse customer service ever experienced.

I would not stay here again. Hilton needs to update its hotels that are this old and stop having people pay full price for it. While “clean”, there are marks all over the walls, the chair has holes in it, and the pillow had a strange smell to it and was worn down. I am disappointed in the quality of Hampton Inns at this point that have not been upgraded.

This is my third time staying here at this one due to weather. It’s quiet and the staff is friendly. Breakfast is decent. Beds are also pretty comfortable. Glad to have this hotel as an option during cruddy weather in the winter. The cookies in the lobby are a treat as well

When I first checked in to the hotel, there was a strong odor of fumes from the paint, and never tried in the room. There’s never any front desk agent out you have to ring a bell in order to have them come out and the sign that says to ring the bell is very, very small.
