My wife and I stayed at the DeSoto House Hotel recently and had a wonderful time. The location is great, with numerous shops nearby. Great restaurants in the hotel and also within walking distance. Reasonably priced. One advantage is you can leave your car in the hotel parking garage and then wander the streets exploring the stores and historical sites.

We just had a marvelous stay at the DeSoto House!! The staff is great and the rooms were comfortable, clean and modern, yet historic. We took advantage of the Internet special for $129 per night with a $50 per night per room meal certificate for dinner. The food was delicious! We will definitely return!

This was our second stay at the Desoto House in Galena. We were in the Ulysses S. Grant room overlooking main street. We have visited GALENA, iLL several times a year and always stay at the DeSoto Hotel due to its convenient location to the downtown shops and restaurants. Excellent service staff, and the food was teh best we had during the weekedn we stayed at Galena. Great town for runners, many hills and stairs. Same for history buffs, the hotel and the Main Street strip below are endlessly entertaining. We had a room overlooking the strip, we loved it. Will be going back again, definitely.
