We stopped for a mid-week lunch and found the pub busy and lively. Staff are young prompt and attentive. The menu is better than average, definitely gastro-pub territory. Our meals, smoked haddock and a roasted poussin were excellent, well prepared and presented - except, in the case of the chicken, why do they insist on using wooden platters instead of... More

Stayed here Bank Holiday Monday, after a day trip to Chatsworth, which was fantastic! Tracey our host was very very friendly. Our room 'Dunsa' was very clean and beautifully designed as the website describes. However it was on the tiny side, but more than adequate for a 1 night stay. All our meals were delicious, in fact I'm not sure... More

super stay. attentive efficient staff. good clean, comfortable accommodation, excellent food and generous portions. my only wish is that i had booked for 2 nights instead of 1. the main dishes are offered as a "small" or "large" portion indicated by the pricing. great if you would like to sample 3 courses. breakfast was excellent and as ordered (my husband likes... Visited the horse trails at Chatsworth Park and whilst there took the opportunity to tour Chatsworth House, both were fantastic and good value for money. Two enjoyable nights were spent at the Devonshire Arms, Pilsley. The food was excellent and the bedroom (Redway) was spacious and spotless. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again. May... More

On holiday in the area for two weeks and ate here on two consecutive Mondays as liked the look of the Bistro Night menu - tremendous value at £10 for 3 courses. The food portions were generous and there was good choice, though we found that on the second Monday most of the menu was the same as the previous... More

We stayed three nights at The Devonshire Arms, Pilsley. Welcome on arrival was cool, the member of staff seemed pre-occupied and was not particularly friendly. Our request to reserve a table for dinner was met with "We don't take reservations" - no explanation. We ate there on the first evening in an almost deserted bar, the food was nothing better... More

My husband and I visited Chatsworth House and had booked The Devonshire Arms, Pilsley for 2 nights. I was a little disappointd on entering as there was a strong smell of dogs and the bar and bedroom was cold. The room (no.5 Fold) overlooks the car park and is above the kitchen so you get the kitchen/extractor fan noise, also... More

Simply the best pub roast we have ever eaten. Delicious local meat, plenty of freshly cooked veg and loads of gravy. Furthermore, the food was piping hot which seems a bit of a rarity these days! The pub itself is very comfortable and welcoming and the staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit even if you aren't staying... More

We visited Chatsworth House and for two night we stayed at the The Devonshire Arms. This is a first rate public house. The bedrooms are top class and the food excellent. A really superb place to stay and visit the area. The food was excellent and Hugh the manager was very customer friendly and efficient. My only observation was that... More

Stayed in one of the smaller rooms which would have been cramped for 2 but was fine for 1. Some noise from the bar downstairs, but not much. Bed was fantastic. Room was spotless. Bathroom beautifully done with good complementary toiletries. Good hospitality tray. Would look forward to staying here again. Breakfast and bar meals good with good service.
