Without a doubt the worse canoe trip we've ever been on. The above reviews are correct when they say its an obstacle course. And not in a good way. Should have been a clue when we got there at 11 and hardly any canoes were rented. Talked to the lady at the concession and she said it was challenging in... More

Visited April 26-29. This place was very well maintained. Bathrooms were actually very clean, but the water only stays on for 30 seconds (have to keep re-pressing the button). Lots of stuff to do there, swimming in the spring pool, multiple nature trails, picnic areas, and canoeing. Each camp site has its own fire ring and picnic table. I would... More

Juniper Springs Recreation Area is located in the Ocala National Forest. The entrance sign is easy to miss, on the north side of Highway 40, 4.5 miles west of Highway 19. Entrance fee is $5 per person. JSRA has nature paths, grilling, picnicking, tent camping and RVs allowed but no full hookups. The swim area is beautiful; a cement rim... More

My husband and I went camping at Juniper Springs for New Year's Eve this year, and it was awesome! I hadn't been there since I was a kid, but it was just as great as I remember it. We stayed in the tent-only section, which was great because you didn't have to worry about RV's or pop-ups. The sites were... More

I recently went on a short camping trip with my husband and another young married couple. We stayed in the tent loop at juniper springs. we were one of the only ones in the tent loop since the temperature was pretty cold for January in Florida. But It was nice the ranger came by that night at around 9 to... More

We camped last weekend at Juniper Springs. Because we are tent campers we chose the tent loop and we were very pleasantly surprised by the size and isolation of each site. You feel like you have your own little spot of the forest. Without RVs nearby, you don't hear the hum of generators all night long. The bathrooms were a... More

If you want to get amongst the locals this is the place; my daughter rescued what appeared to be a 30 stone lady out of the spring, who couldn't swim, as soon as we got there and she and her family went on to tell us now they nicked the fish for their aquarium! It's an unusual place, a freshwater... More

I took my extended family (16 people in total) on the Juniper Springs canoe run which was supposed to take four hours. Instead we spent almost six hours on the river hauling our canoes over various deadfall that the National Forest Service has yet to remove since the hurricanes of 2004. I had made the run previously when it was... More

This review is from the perspective of a camper. We are Florida Natives, so we've visited a great many springs. This spring was nothing to write home about, in comparison - however, it was neat how they turned it into a recreational area. With that said, we visited in February to camp and check out the Spring. It was a... More

We had two campsites one was fairly large and the other was quite small. One had a better fire ring than the other. Both campsites had a good amount of shade that is necessary in Florida in June. We were close to the showers/bathrooms that were well maintained this weekend. The showers almost always had HOT water almost too hot... More
