We got a room on the main road, they wouldn't change it for a quieter one, even if the motel looked half empty. The room was dirty, there were bugs, it was smelly (something like a cheap air freshener trying to cover a lot of dampness and a dirty air conditioning philter. It was very noisy all night long (there... More

If you are here for fishing season or need an economical place to stay, consider this place. There is soap in the bathroom but no extra amenities like shampoo/conditioner. It does not have a hair dryer either. It does have a compact refrigerator which is handy for pop. The room is very spacious and it has both a front and... More

I stayed a week at the Sunset Inn during a fishing trip this April. It was a fair bit older and worn-out than I expected but it was also not expensive at all. As I mentioned, I was on a fishing trip so I did not want fancy/expensive accommodations. This fit my bill just fine. I thought by the ad... More

The good: - No bedbugs - Relatively clean - The pool area looked clean and well kept The bad: - The 'kitchenette' we paid extra for consisted of a sink and a fridge that didn't work. No microwave because 'people kept stealing them,' according to the front desk. - No shampoo or lotion provided, just bars of soap - Uncomfortable... More

we live in West central Florida and escape to Islamorada 3 or 4 times a year... We stay at the sunset on at least a couple of these trips every year...the keys are a fantastic getaway and Islamorada is the gem of the middle keys. Sunset inn is a basic, clean, older hotel situated directly in the middle of everything... More

We had low expectations for the $85 / night rate, but that's fine. We just wanted, clean, cheap and safe for a few nights. We got relatively clean, relatively cheap (although the kitchenette rooms no longer have microwaves so save your extra $10) Safe? Not even close. The smoke detector beeped all night because there was no AC power to... More

Read a couple reviews and was skeptical. Not sure people have realistic expectations for one and two star lodging. Very suitable accomodations for the prices in the Keys. Clean room with comfortable beds, older but adequate bathroom fixtures and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Breakfast and lunch right next door with good food and a host of other options for dinner... More

Don't let first impressions fool you. The Sunset Inn is clean and comfortable. Dennise goes out of his way to accommodate you. We stayed 4 nites then went up to Key Largo for a week and came back and stayed at the Sunset instead of staying at the Days Inn in Key West. It's nothing fancy and it's needs some... More

It wasn't our first choice, BUT, it was clean, and did for a place to stay! We were on 2nd floor and had 2 doors. One in front and one in back (front on street Overseas Hwy side and other is back on pool side) which was unexpected. Excellent water pressure - big for us as we don't like the... More
