We stayed in room 9; Valley View and what a view. It was worth climbing 2 1/2 flights of stairs to your own living room with a private deck overlooking a mountain valley. The bed was very comfortable with luxury sheets, bedding and towels. The hosts Tom & Julie were friendly and made you feel at home. The breakfasts were... More

This place is great! It's off the beaten path and a great place to turn off the cell phone and enjoy the great outdoors. My husband and I have stayed here twice and recommend it to anyone traveling that direction. We have stayed here in the fall (great mountain biking) and winter (day after snowboarding). Both times have been great!... More

Let's be honest - after a great day of high-country recreation nobody wants to go back to a hotel room - most people want to be at home. Well that is just where we were at the High Mountain Lodge, a home away from home for sure. Afternoon drinks with newly made friends on the sun-soaked porch, a home-cooked meal,... More

We stayed here three weekends in January. HML is located in a gorgeous valley in Frasier near the Winter Park ski area. Tom and Julie are very gregarious hosts, generous with their time and hospitality! A great value , with room , firewood, happy hour drinks and snacks , dinner and breakfast included in price. The happy hour included generous... More

First time visit to Colorado to go cross country skiing and visit family, rented AWD car (definitely recommended for winter) in Denver and had an easy drive to Fraser. We stayed at High Mountain Lodge for 2 nights. Julie and Tom were gracious hosts. Breakfast, late afternoon wine and cheese and dinner was great. Three of us stayed in Room... More

My wife and I needed a quick weekend getaway to keep some frequent flyer perks so we decided on a quick jaunt out to Colorado from North Cal. We flew into Denver, rented AWD vehicle and headed up to Fraser (close Hot Sulpher Springs (great spa), Rocky Mountain National Park, Lake Granby and Georgetown and their railway). We had a... More

The hosts were nice. The layout was very odd. Most rooms have views into a pretty cold indoor pool. Pick your room carefully- they have detailed descriptions on their website. Hot tub was out of order. Building a fire was nice. Could use a bit more upkeep.

You're right, the place is something of a maze. When we were considering buying it, we visited it numerous times, and after each walk-through, we would go home and have a quarrel about what the rooms looked like and what was in each one. At one point, we scrawled numbers on signs then took pictures of each room to be... More

I spent several days at the High Mountain Lodge in June, and it was not long enough! The food was excellent, and I simply didn't have enough time to take advantage of all the amazing things to do in the area. With a pool, jacuzzi, enormous book/movie library, lovely rooms, beautiful surroundings, and much more, I easily could have spent... More

This is an "out-of-the-way" lodge, used primarily for skiing Winter Park (<15 min away). We thoroughly enjoyed the room (large, with fireplace), great indoor pool, excellent breakfast and great hosts. Our dog was royally treated (literally!). Would stay there again in a heart beat, summer or winter.

High Mountain Lodge is conveniently located a short distance from Fraser. Clean, comfortable and Tom & Julie couldn't be more welcoming. We wanted to escape the Denver heat and needed a place that was pet friendly. Our two dogs loved it as well. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and we had all we needed. The breakfast was delicious and... More
