We have been coming to River Ranch for 30 years. We always look forward to watching the rafters come in .....the food at the restaurant is always wonderful. We have experienced a horrific stay this week with very rude receptionist whom "said" she was the manager and also with the the office manager. Watch out!!!! When checking out, they had... More

Superb location on the Truckee River and very good dinner in the restaurant but nothing else redeeming about this place. Our room was dirty and musty and there was black mold in the shower; we bith developed breathig difficulties in our 1 night stay. A covering of dog hair littered our deck. the desk personnel were rude at check in... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in March 2012. It was snowing. We were a bit apprehensive about the condition of the room after reading all the reviews here. But we were pleasantly surprised. But 1st off - the reception desk - it's under the stairs to the right of the main door - very quaint position,... More

Although this small lodge does not have tons of amenities - no room service, no hair dryers, many of the best rooms open to the outside, etc. - we love it. It is so very charming, a real, old fashioned ski lodge very close to Alpine Meadows and not too far from Squaw Valley. It has not been fitted out... More

All I was expecting from this lodge was a neat, clean, and small no-frills room close to Squaw and, if lucky, a slight river view. That's all. And it still failed to meet my very spartan expectations. When I walked in to the lodge I thought I must have mistakenly walked in to the restaurant because clearly there was no... More

My husband & I stayed here for 2 nights and loved it! We stayed in one of the rooms that looks over the Truckee river and it was beautiful!! The room was cozy with everything you would need. The bed had a soft down comforter which makes for really good sleeping with the sound of the river flowing outside your... More

Stayed 2 nights in July on our Sierras trip. We were grateful that they could accommodate us when a reservation with the Stanford Alpine Lodge had failed because of misunderstandings. They told us they had two rooms available, we chose the best one on the second floor for 185$ per night. Nice room, nice dinner on the restaurant terrace next... More

This lodge has a lovely location and a good restaurant with excellent service. Those are the pluses. The minuses are: located directly off of Hwy 89 which means you have horrible road noise that stops at 1:00a.m. and starts up again at 5:00 a.m. Don't plan on getting much sleep. The decor is both dated and laughable-with fish on both our... After being told that the music and noise from the resturant/bar would not affect us. Its 1130pm and we are lying in bed and the pounding noise is making it impossible to sleep. Not happy but what can you do, the office is closed. $180/night ain't worth it. move on.

Located at the entrance of the Alpine Meadows access road the River Ranch is a convenient spot to stay. With shuttle service to the ski area, a good restaurant and bar, you don;t have to drive anywhere. The rooms have a B&B feeling, and have been renovated recently. The bar is a great meeting place for an apre-ski get-together.
