We stayed at Shinneyboo Creek Cabins from August 1 to August 5, 2011. The location, particularly the river and surrounding landscape, were spectacular. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Shinneyboo, but there were a few downsides. The cabin we stayed in had a very limited kitchen area which made preparing meals difficult. Luckily, we had some plates and plastic utensils... More

I want more for my money and at $189 + tax a night, these cabins are a rip off. For some unknown reason 90% of the electric sockets failed in the morning so I had to move stuff around including the microwave, coffee maker and fridge so they could work. Do they turn if off to save money? The gas... More

We've been staying at Shinneyboo every year and since I last wrote a review in 2007, I thought I'd write a brief update. The location is awesome - lots of onsite locations for sledding, within 30 minutes of Soda Springs and Kingvale, and within one hour of Truckee. The eight available (winter) cabins make it a cozy and private experience,... More

For the few who gave a less than stellar review due to the Hwy 80 noise...good riddance! More room for us! Loved every minute of our stay. More

We just stayed in cabin five for 2 nights. We brought our kids (5 & 8). They had fun playing in the plentiful snow on the property. They loved sleeping in the loft! I was thankful they each had their own bed (they sleep better this way). The cabin was nicely stocked with some high-quality snacks, hot chocolate, assorted teas,... More

Shinneyboo was a nice place for us to spend the weekend with our kids and dogs. We really liked how dog friendly this place is. Dont get me wrong, if you dont like dogs or dont want to be bothered by dogs you wont. The cabin was nice. The area was nice, the river was nice and the price was... More

Nestled in the Sierra there is a place where you can get away from it and have all the comforts of home without annoying TV. Nature is the big entertainer here. A short hike to the South Yuba River and all the grandure of the Sierra. The log cabins, tent cabins, and even a Yurt are all first rate and... More

We just got home from a three night stay in cabin #6. The location is amazing, and the views from the back porch were beautiful. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We were thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail. There weren't any restaurants nearby (that were actually open for business), so we drove to Truckee a couple of... More

The cabins are nice , clean , and the hosts friendly and accomodating . However the cabins are quite close to I-80 and the road noise is loud and constant . The yurt , which is a short walk , is quieter , or maybe it's just that the Yuba River drowns out the highway noise . More

We regret that Mr. Turgidson was so put off by the road noise. The cabins are about 1/2 mile from I-80 and sometimes the road noise is louder than others, sometimes you can not hear it at all. Most people who spend a lot of time here tend to not think about it. It is an indistinct noise that, as... More

This is a great place! The grounds are beautiful and the small well appointed cabins were perfect for us and our baby. It was wonderful to sit out on our deck, grill our dinner and look out at the mountains and the woods. We also had fun making a fire and cooking somores in our private fire pit. It is... More
