Unfortunately we reached Santa Barbara on a Saturday late afternoon in May 2013... and could not find any vacancy cheaper than 100$ per night (2 people, 1 bed). So after 4h we took that lousy flophouse. I had never experienced a room so grubby. Old stuff in the fridge, broken doors, dirty bath and carpet... and so on... for 110$!
We stayed there just one night because it was late and we were tired. The room was durty and in the bed we found hair from the last guests I think. The furniture were old and badly damaged. The carpet was perforated from cigaretts. The towels were full with Make Up from other visitors. and so on
We visited Santa Barbara on a Saturday night, accomodation was scarce! We paid $162.40 for the night for this terrible pink door motel. What a joke! Curtains falling off rods, windows that do not lock, no breakfast - probably just as well! Not nice!
Wondering what a $130 room gets you in Santa Barbara in August? If it's the Holiday Lodge then it may be a dive. It's hard to believe such a place can demand (and get) more than $40 a night. Ok. What it has: a swimming pool, refrigerator in some rooms, microwave in others, tv with many channels, and thin walls...
