We stayed for 5 nights at the Citizen and used it as a base to explore the area. Charming and relaxed with a bit of a grand feel. Rooms were great with big bathroom, fantastic beds and lots of storage. Dont miss the happy hour in the Grange Bar/Restaurant they do great tacos and the street fries (butter and blue... More

Without looking at the archway entrance and by looking at just the exterior of the hotel, you wouldn't think that it's anything different. The moment you stepped in, with the memorabilia of legendary actor/actresses within the showcases, and the really luxurious velvet covering sofa and chairs in gold, royal blue, and red colors, off setting the marble walls and floors... I attended a training workshop held at The Citizen Hotel and also chose to stay as a guest. The guest rooms are charming with loads of amenities. The staff service was outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed the Grange restaurant. The meeting room was lovely, except for the four large pillars that obstructed seeing the screen (but we made do OK). This... More

Dear simonds! Thank you for taking the time to post a review regarding your stay. Great to hear you enjoyed the hotels decor and political theme. You obviously took the time to look around and discover all the little nuances we have placed around the hotel as pasrt of out bi-partisan ploitical bent. On your next stay look for the... More

Stayed here the night before a conference. Had the 1 bedroom studio suite, corner room. Was nice and cozy, with lots of windows (that open slightly). Only bummer was we had a third person and they slept on the pull out couch. Which when pulled out didn't leave much room to get to the bathroom in the middle of the... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Located across from Cesar Chavez Park, the hotel is convenient to the capitol and various state and city offices. It is completely renovated and decorated with a charming political theme-- from selected quotes about politics in the elevators to framed editorial cartoons from the 40s in the rooms. Beds were comfortable, the bathroom well-appointed.... More

I've been to/thru Sacramento a number of times on the way to/from Lake Tahoe and this was my first stay at The Citizen and we really enjoyed it. The staff was very kind and helpful, room service was great, honor bar well-stocked, bed comfy, washroom with nice toiletries. And the California political theme of the rooms and hotel was neat.... I stayed here on a whim while in Sacramento on business. I am a very frequent traveler who usually stays at a name brand upscale hotel, but sometimes I just need a change. The Citizen is a charming place with an excellent restaurant and I will stay here every time I'm in Sacramento.

We just spent 3 days at the Citizen and had a great stay. The best thing about the hotel by far was the staff, this is the first hotel I have every stayed at that gets five stars for everyone working at the hotel. Without exception every staff member we had contact with was friendly and helpful. I have stayed... More

This was an attractive hotel but I didn't think the service was very good either in the hotel or the restaurant (Grange). I also thought the hotel was pretentious and noisy. Just not that good of an experience.
