Stayed here the night before a conference. Had the 1 bedroom studio suite, corner room. Was nice and cozy, with lots of windows (that open slightly). I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Located across from Cesar Chavez Park, the hotel is convenient to the capitol and various state and city offices. It is completely renovated and decorated with a charming political theme-- from selected quotes about politics in the elevators to framed editorial cartoons from the 40s in the rooms. I've been to/thru Sacramento a number of times on the way to/from Lake Tahoe and this was my first stay at The Citizen and we really enjoyed it. The staff was very kind and helpful, room service was great, honor bar well-stocked, bed comfy, washroom with nice toiletries. And the California political theme of the rooms and hotel was neat.... I stayed here on a whim while in Sacramento on business. I am a very frequent traveler who usually stays at a name brand upscale hotel, but sometimes I just need a change. The Citizen is a charming place with an excellent restaurant and I will stay here every time I'm in Sacramento.

This was an attractive hotel but I didn't think the service was very good either in the hotel or the restaurant (Grange). I also thought the hotel was pretentious and noisy. Just not that good of an experience.
