We just returned from our first visit to Point Arena and the Wharf Master's Inn. We were so impressed when we were shown to our room in the Lookout Building and he included bottles of wine and saw the details in the room such as tea lights at the spa jacuzzi tub and the view from the balcony. The gas... More

This place has the nicest beds! I have to say the location is also one of the most beautiful. Right on the ocean... We needed a late check-out, and they accommodated us. They even left the breakfast out for us until we all awoke. Excellent staff, very nice with special requests. More

Nice setting, good service, staff helpful, rooms spacious, decks beautiful vistas. However our sink did not drain and one of the two chairs on the deck were broken and it would have been useful to get a fire log after 10pm More

We arrived at Point Arena as a family of 4, having booked the Victorian Suite. The deck looking to the ocean was lovely, but the room was awful. Dark, moldy, and not updated at all. I looked over these issues, figuring the rest of the property was the same way. Then my sister and mother in law arrived, and I... More

My wife & I (over 55) can't say enough about this Inn. We had a room with a balcony & an ocean view. We stayed one night on a trip down the Oregon & California coasts. The rate was reasonable. The room was very nicely decorated. The location is on a hillside over looking a marina and the ocean. The... More

Great, attractive place clinging to the hillside in a narrow northern California cove, right next to a little wharf...a real wharf, not a touristy, crowded playground. Great place on a sunny day or a foggy one. Clean, well-appointed rooms with nice decor. We've stayed there three times and have always been happy with the experience. More

Lovely room and accommodations. Top notch continental breakfast (quiches and lovely fruit salads--well attended by staff). More

First, let's start with the positives, the view was fantastic. I stayed in a room next to the old Wharf Master's house (which you can also rent) which had a view of the still-active wharf and the rugged coast. The bed was also a dream, a real feather bed like the ones in Europe. The room, however, was just basic... More

The Wharf Master's Inn is perched on a cliff overlooking the Point Arena harbor. If you want an ocean view, ask for it; not all the rooms have a good ocean view. It is beautiful. Our room also had an in-room hot tub and fireplace. At reception there is a large selection of local wines that can be purchased for... More

Except for its lighthouse and town pier, Pt Arena has no tourist attractions, but it is a cute little town a short distance south of Mendecino on the California north coast. The Wharfmaster sits high overlooking the pier area, and all the rooms have a balcony and ocean views that won't dent anyone's budget. The staff is friendly and competent.... More
