Now, to be fair, its been awhile since I stayed here. But my hubby and I were just in the area for our yearly trek and saw that the place is still as dismal as ever. Too bad really, given its most excellent location and historic roots. And I wouldn't even be mentioning it here, were it not for the... More

We stayed at the National Hotel last weekend for our anniversary. A little up-dating, it has been up-dated since the 80's.....What a disappointment when we checked into our so called cottage with fireplace. We were told it was a romactic cottage. We both walked around the room with our shoes on the whole time, slept being careful of not touching... More

OK...so I don't think I will stay here again but it was a unique experience. It is a very old historic hotel that has had very little updating, in my opinion. To my surprise upon checking in, no shower only a bath tub. It was a nice bath tub, claw foot. I didn't try it out as I opted for... More

We like this hotel because it is so old and historic. Things aren't even close to good condition, but if you like history and are adventurous, it can be fun. We've stayed when it was really cold, and the steam heat didn't quite reach our room. We had to borrow an electric heater from the front desk, but we made... More

This hotel is in disrepair as evidenced by the wind blowing through the holes in the walls and cracks around the windows. Doors in the room would not close or lock, such as the bathroom. They only have a small heater to heat the bedroom and with the wind blowing through, it did very little to keep us warm. They... More

My husband and I have stayed at the National Hotel and have had breakfast in their restaurant at least 3-4 times in the past. We have always enjoyed the stay, food and historical atmosphere. It had been two years since we had made a visit to the National so we took my mother-in-law and the three of us went up... More

I thought this would be a cute little place to stay based on the historical aspect. I WAS WRONG. The rooms are disgusting with water stained wall paper and carpet. The bathroom was filthy and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The toilet leaked all over the floor and the hot water took 15 minutes to show up... More

If you are looking for a 5 star hotel with all the amenities, this is not your place. If you are looking for something a little more historical in a busy little town, this is your spot. My husband and I spent the evening there on a Friday night. We had a room near the veranda and were able to... More

This place takes you back in time. All the rooms facing the street with access to the hotel second floor balcony are dripping with historical artifacts and furniture. From the old four poster beds to the pull chain water closet this is a room you'll never forget. A trip to the piano bar and a drink ordered from one of... More

Ate at the National Hotel restaurant. The atmosphere was very charming and historic except for the oil lamps gave off strong odor that some might find noxious. I'm surprised that they could legally have them on the tables since they are an extreme fire hazard especially in such an old building. Extremely limited menu. Soup was good and the food... More
