I have driven by the St. Bernard Lodge several times in the past and it was a huge mistake! Last night my family and I stopped to check the place out. It is great inside and the dinner we had was fantastic! The owners were very friendly. The clam chowder was delicious as well as the steak and shimp scampi... More

Just spent a long winter holiday weekend here with my friends and we all truly enjoyed our stay. The owners are wonderful-- very accommodating to our needs and always cheerful and friendly. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and while the decor is a little dated it's got a certain "cowboy" charm. The overall feel is very comfortable--- as... More

My wife and I enojyed a delicious Valentines Day dinner last night. The owners Jim and Sharon made the evening very special. If you looking for good food with excellent service then the St. Bernard Lodge is the place to go!

We were expecting to stay somewhere in Chester when we found every motel in town was booked with firefighters and loggers doing cleanup from the Reading fire. We called the St. Bernard Lodge at 8:30pm! and the very gracious owner offered us lodging, even though they had no other bookings that evening and were looking forward to a well deserved... More

My husband and I stayed in St Bernard Lodge for 2 nights. Rooms are small, bathrooms are nice, especially the one with the bath tub. Breakfast in good and enormous. The lady gives good advises on what is to be seen in the area and even on your way to your next stop if you are on a roadtrip.

We booked and paid for 2 nights, but left after the first night. We asked for a refund for the second night, but the request was denied. There was a power outage at 10:00 pm and the electricity didn't come back on until 6:00 am. The owner didn't bother to come back to check on the guests. The downstairs rooms... More

We live in a rural area of north eastern California, power outages are a fact of life. That is why we installed a 20 kw generator which is large enough to power the entire lodge. Unfortunately it is also rather loud. The power did go out about 10 pm on the night of the Sept. 17th. The generator kicked on... More

The owner was extremely rude when we asked if our room was ready to check-in a bit early since we had to go to a wedding and was told that we could use it to change our clothes but she was NOT going to vacuum around our luggage. We waited to check-in later as we had a wedding to attend... More

Your booking was made on August 13th for August 25th. You made a request for early check-in via internet at time of booking. You where called and a message left asking you to please call the lodge regarding an early check-in. The reason for the call was to determine how early and what you needed with an early check-in. Neither... More

At time of booking I wasn't aware the bathrooms were shared. We travel in the states a lot and usually avoid B&Bs as I don't like the feeling of staying in someone's house. This experience however was not at all like that. The lodge is quirky, the host really friendly, and the food is the best we have had in... More

We had planned to stay there for 2 nights but ran away after 1 night because of the overall stress associated with living in a lodge where we were warned about speaking too loudly, ordering extra food and having to share bathrooms with total strangers ( which was never made clear at the time of booking or on their website)....
