Genuinely welcoming and in touch with the environment. Mike, Lizzie, and Nora invited my wife and I to enjoy the home and yard. In the evening we found cheese, crackers, nuts, granola, and fresh fruit to snack on. We relaxed in the living room and browsed Mike's library of current Yosemite books. Our room was a beautiful delight, the bed... More

Our teenage son summed up the visit well. Highland House was like coming home to a place you could visit yearly for the rest of your life! Though the owner was out of town, he left us in the good hands of Lizzie who made sure that we were welcomed when we arrived and every thing needed was provided for.... More

Stayed here as a base for Yosemite. What a great place. The Forest retreat room was great. it's private bath room with soak in tub and double faucet showwers, The room was large and sunny with a great working fireplace. The breakfast was cooked nicely. Lot's of wild life and just away enough from the Yosemite crowds. A nice drive... More

We stayed here only for 1 night and it was our only regret on our 2 week trip to the USA to have not stayed 2 nights. We arrived late after a full day at Yosemite to what we felt like was arriving home. Beautiful house, bedrooms & breakfast. Only place to stay when visiting Yosemite, one we will remember... More

Our family of 5 stayed only for one night on the way to Yosemite and needed to rooms. Although expensive, it was excellent. There we lots of humming birds incredibly close to the window which was a amazing, as well as deers and turkeys in the garden. Great furnishing. We were able to use the games room and the living... I am typically not a fan of B&Bs, but I had a fantastic stay at the Highland House. I wanted to stay near Yosemite but did not want to pay the high amounts to stay in the park itself. The Highland House was about one half-hour drive to Yosemite and was resonably priced. If you feel like you are heading... More

The Highland House may be a little bit out of the way, but it is easily found with a good map or a satellite navigation device. Once you've found it, you'll not regret staying here. We stayed here after spending a tiring full day in Yosemite National Park. It is a reasonable drive from the valley floor, so leave plenty... More

Off the beaten path and vegan friendly. A beautiful, warm home surrounded by forest and wildlife. Inside you will find Mike and Lizzie. Both extremely sincere in their invitation and desire for you to feel as if this is your home. We brought our own food, but little did we expect to find the entire pantry (vegan options included) open... More

No sense reiterating all the great reviews, other than to say they are all true. For our two night stay in mid Oct, Nora, took good care of us. The only reason we couldn't eat everything at breakfast was because Nora made sure there was plenty of everything for everybody. Nothing went to waste though as it only took a... More

From the moment we arrived, highland house felt special. It's extremely rural, we saw deer on the lawn in the mornings... The fawn must only have been about 5 weeks old. Hummingbirds abound, hovering at the bird table. Wild turkeys stroll around the garden. Our room was fantastic, lots of space, very clean, charming. Bed incredibly comfortable, we slept so... More
