We chose environmental site 1. It's a long walk from the car, no water available and a pit toilet. It's perfect. The site was clean, the toilet well maintained a clean. The sound of the ocean lulled us to sleep after an evening of stargazing. Loved the place.

Went to the park this last weekend and enjoyed the hike down to the Bluff trail overlooking the ocean. Great views of waves, rocks with the erosion creating great landscapes. I have been to Montana de Oro State park dozens of time. My kids enjoy the beach that is mostly comprised of small rocks and shells. I had gone there as a child, now as a 30 something with kids I enjoy it all the better. The trails are wonderful, and if you do head out take a camera. The... More

The only other review says that there is no running water at the state park- that is in fact un true. There are a few sites that you can utilize that have a lower rate per night that do not have water & you have to hike in. However the majority of the sites have running water nearby. plenty of...
