We've been to the Double Eagle several years but this will unfortunately be our last visit. I don't normally write reviews, and the few times I have done so, was to write positive reviews, so this is an unpleasant task... but I want to warn other travelers. Here's what happened to us: We arrived late at night and made our way to the guest cabin only to find it had not been cleaned. I had to sweep the kitchen and wipe down the table and counters, which were filthy. When I looked around, I found that there were none of the usual expected supplies were left for us. No trash bags, no dishwasher detergent, etc... Even worse -- no wifi. None at all. Frustrated at the state of things, I quickly had to shift into dinner gear and get some food into the kids before they started to melt down. I threw some stuff in the oven, only to discover there were no oven mitts. Hence no way to take anything out without burning my hands. As I made my way around the unit I saw numerous broken things -- things which had brought to the attention of management the year before -- none of which had been addressed. The phone in the unit still didn't work, and the carpets were still atrocious. Door locks were still broken, windows still didn't open, there were still holes in walls, etc... Every year this property is in worse shape. Which is sad because the guest cabin was once a wonderful rental. The location is great and the views are fantastic. But that's where the good news ends. I get the impression that the guest cabin is an afterthought and that most of the attention is given to the rentals on the other side of the road. The most frustrating thing of all is the fact that it's impossible to get anyone to pick up a phone. There are numerous numbers listed for the resort in the flier they give you but nobody picks up any of them. It's incredibly frustrating to pay money to people and to be completely taken advantage of and for nobody to take any responsibility. The one time I did finally get someone one the line, and tried to explain my frustration, the call was disconnected. Or hung up...? I hope not. But in either case, when I called back, it immediately went through to voicemail again. The only good thing I can say is that the property manager seemed to feel badly for the state of things and offered us a credit -- which was nice -- but the bottom line is, while I'm grateful for the credit, I would have preferred to pay the full price have had a more pleasant stay and been able to reach people and had problems addressed. I would prefer to have built up a relationship with the Double Eagle, and be coming back next year, with the same two families. As it is, I was embarrassed by the state of the cabin, and have promised my friends to find another place next year. Very sorry to share this with everyone, but hopefully it will help steer you towards a better vacation destination.

At check in,three young men chatting (chattering) in the office,, I was asked to sign a lengthy set of "rules" but refused to give me a copy. Was given a different, briefer, set which told us we had to strip own bed when we check our, really? (Nope, later told us not necesary! Carpet gritty, toilet room floor diety and hair in corner. Fireplace did not work, told it was only decorative anyway. Freezer area if frig needs defrosting. Use dishes washed by prior guest. Bath towels are old and thin, not resort quality. Do NOT stay on lower floor of "resort rooms" thin ceiling/floor above sounds like herd if cows above till 2 am. Dangerous frayed lamp cord between beds Patio chairs need cushions. No microwave in room Dining room not classy, more like a college cafeteria. Bar is better but way too small. Staffvthere was pleasant but clearly understaffed and poorly trained or supervised. One did not know the bar served tacos on Tuesday like a sign a foot away mentioned ( we asked, what kind). We assumed our room would be in main building but they are in several four plexus around the lake. That was nice but again, chairs need cushions and insist on an upper unit. We would have enjoyed wine and snacks in the main(?), building in front of a roaring fire, alas. Nothing like that and no staff to do it. Would we say again? Yes. Would we recommend? Yes. Is it what it shoul/could be? NOPE Is it worth $300/night? No, but in this day and age and compared to so much junk out there I would say yes or just go buy a trailer or camper. Breakfast should be included but for only 12 (?) rooms without a kitchen I see why it is not. So perhaps a "cabin" is a better choice for many? Get rid if the stupid coffee pot and put in Keurig. Funny, not! The little basket had two empty coffee packs in it left there by a prior guest. Not checked by staff. So, who runs this place, who owns it? Seems like an absentee, corporate investor and not a hands on pride of ownership type. Finally, we did not respond to the survey we were sent a few days after our stay. It was stupid as are many such. Asked to rate certain things, there is no N/A. We did not use the bar, the gym, the pool, etc.

We booked a regular hotel room with two beds. It was very nice and clean. Staff at checkin desk was super nice. The only issue we had was that kids aren't allowed to swim in the mornings until after check out. I would have never booked this hotel if I had known that. Not very family friendly.

This place is spectacular. Amazing amazing grounds. Spectacular views. Having access to spa is the best part. There is an outdoor portion to the indoor pool. You can get beer/wine/smoothie by pool. It was 80 degrees during the day an no air conditioning was not a problem. We hiked to gem lake which was beautiful, hard and very interesting with the two dams and railroad.

If you want to go to June Mountain to ski with your family this is the place to stay. We found the hotel staff to be very courteous and informative at this hotel. The spa, Pool and workout equipment were top notch. Stayed in a little cottage near the pond which was perfect or my family of four.

The resort has both guest rooms and cabins. We had a two bedroom cabin. Went with most significant other and our kids and grandkids. They have a stocked catch and release pond, a restaurant, an indoor pool with a jacuzzi and a full gym. The men’s and women’s locker rooms have great showers, a whirlpool and a steam room. Lake fishing is nearby and the cabins have grills to BBQ on. They make cookies and put them out around 4pm. The grandkids loved it. Mosquitoes were a pain but there has been an enormous amount of snow with residual melt. Two beautiful waterfalls within sight. Would go back in a heartbeat. It is not luxurious but it is very comfortable.

Arriving at June lake was amazing and arriving at double eagle was a true pleasure. We arrived late luckily the staff were there for us although even if we missed out they had an envelope with our room key ready by mailbox. Although when we got to our room there wasn’t an electricity luckily they were able to provide us with another room in a few minutes. Again I prefer some service when it comes to luggage and there wasn’t any and this time around it was tough since our room was upstairs but with the room switch we were downstairs. So if you have luggage make sure to request a room downstairs. The view of the room is beautiful. It overlooked the beautiful trees and a pond. Great and memorable stay.

Where to start?... Arrived on Super Bowl Sunday. Turned on the TV upon arrival...no Super Bowl available. Called office and they sent someone...who wasn't able to do a thing. We had to drive over to their restaurant to watch on a big screen, and they comped our dinner. The TV didn't even work all the time for the local TV channels they had available. Internet - website said they have "high speed" Internet. Not even close to high speed. Internet was up and down like a yoyo, and frequently so bad, it was useless. Office sent someone over to check...to no avail. Grabbed a bath towel for a shower, and saw that the edges of both available bath towels were shredded they were so old. Disgusting! I was very surprised to see there was no secondary inside security lock on door! There was a motion sensor actuated light outside the door, but it always went off so quickly after our arrival I was always fumbling with card key in the pitch black. Had to use my cell phone light. Ridiculous! The only upside to this place at this point is the restaurant and bar. Good food and great staff! This used to be the best place to stay at June Lake, and sadly, it still may be. But it has gone way downhill. At this point I'd rather stay in Mammoth and drive back and forth to June to ski.

We arrived very late at night to a cozy room prepped perfectly. Large rooms, comfy beds, a balcony with stunning views, pot belly stove, kitchenette and huge spa bathroom. It snowed all night and the next morning but the Double Eagle crew were already shoveling our steps and digging out our car! They thought of everything to spoil us and made us feel very comfortable in the blizzard conditions. We enjoyed the heated indoor pool and spa plus resort amenities since we couldn’t ski. The lodge is beautiful and cozy, the restaurant and bar has delicious food and a great fun atmosphere - we made new friends at every meal! The staff showed us the best sledding hills and accommodated our every whim. Amazing winter wonderland destination ❄️☃️❤️

This accommodation is set in beautiful surroundings and was relaxing to visit, unfortunately our stay was blighted by issues. The reception staff were kind enough to email (As we were arriving late and had no cell service) to let us know how to retrieve our keys, as they close at a set time. On our arrival at approximately 22:20, we were met by patrons leaving the closing bar. One gentleman insisted we were his Uber ride home, and was quite persistent. There were no staff to assist so the situation was laughed off. We stayed in a cabin of four apartments. The accommodations were clean and furnished well. The apartment did not have aircon, but did contain a gas fired cast iron stove. The pilot was lit (In June!) and it still pumped out heat, this may have been acceptable if it wasn’t 80F outside! In addition, the fridge located in the room was convenient but loud. We had another apartment located on top of ours, whilst you could not hear anything at a conversation level, footsteps and mobile phone vibrations were noticeable. We went to the on-site restaurant the next day for breakfast and the Spa and both were of good standard with friendly staff. The Spa facilities are included in the price of the accommodation and well worth a visit. We also decided to revisit the restaurant for dinner that evening, we were attended by a evidently young waiter but his recommendations and service could not be faulted. The food was below average for price and what you’d expect. The main downfall of this stay was the experience after. Whilst nearing the end of our meal we informed the waiter that we would likely move to the bar for our next drinks. On arrival to the bar at around 21:00, we were refused service by the bar maid on the grounds the bar had closed (Even though there were at minimum three groups eating and drinking). What was even more disappointing, our comments were not only dismissed but met with an aggressive reaction. Her etiquette and customer service was non-existent. Whilst I understand there is a time to close, I can’t see how we were harassed the night before over an hour after the bar had closed. Unfortuantely this experience and her attitude, without apology, means we would not chose to stay here again in the future, no matter how beautiful the surroundings.
