Lillaskog Lodge has much to recommend it. It's located 25 minutes from Yosemite park gates and is surrounded by beautiful scenery, although access is by a rutted track, which tests your car's suspension. We stayed here during June 2012. It is a lovely setting but the staff (Kathy) wasn't at all welcoming. We felt like we were in the way during our stay there. This was easily the prettiest, most comfortable and relaxed place that we stayed during our trip. The interior looks like it's out of a fairytale - Swedish design at it's best, and makes the most of the stunning views. Lillaskog was very nice place to stay. Breakfast was good and location was beautiful. Big El Capitan room was a good deal for four person. It takes a while to drive to Yosemite Valley, but I would say that if you cannot stay in the Valley this is one of the best places outside.
