We were here in September 2011 and had an ocean view room since we are Hilton diamond members. Unfortunately the first thing you see are the campgrounds across the street. But if you didn't look down, the view was gorgeous. Balcony very narrow. Two-room suite was very small but adequate. Pool was very tiny. Location of hotel, however, was nice.

This is a perfectly fine Doubletree and the cookies are good. It's right across from the beach, which is nice if that's where you plan to spend time. It's also right on the PCH and very close to I-5, so there's easy access there, too. "Beach view" rooms can also mean "traffic noise" rooms if you're on a lower floor....
