I stayed at Mvuu Camp. Wilderness Safaris has two sites in the Park which are linked by a dirt road. The Lodge is more expensive and luxurious than the camp. I chose to stay at the camp. It has I believe 10 chalets - tents that are built on concrete blocks. Each chalet has it's own little patio with a... More

We stayed for 3 nights on their campsite (landrover/rooftop tent), did a boatride with the lodge (excellent game viewing) so certainly recommended, game driving done with our car; did see elephants, biggest herd of sable ever seen, hippo, crocs, etc. (you can see lion and black rhino also, but need then to take a game drive with the lodge in... We just wanted to write and say what a truly incredible trip we at Mvuu Wilderness Lodge. We have never been treated so well, eaten such wonderful food and had such an amazing experience. The animals were fantastic and our guides were brilliant and very knowledgeable. "Willy" our driver was FANTASTIC. He was punctual, friendly, knowledgeable and very kind and... More

arrival as we were leaving too early to do it in the morning. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Dinner was outside with dancing and excellent barbecue. Even though we were leaving an hour before breakfast began, staff happily arranged for us to have a full breakfast and were charming. Staff were attentive and cheerful and really made us welcome. Wished... More

Spent one night at Mvuu Camp and one at the Lodge (we didn't pay the full international tourist rate, by the way - couldn't have afforded to stay there if we had). We were on a holiday as a family, visiting old haunts as we used to live in Malawi. We loved Mvuu and had a great time. Had wondered... More

This was a surprisingly nice place to spend a few days. The guides were amazing, possibly some of the best I have encountered in Africa. Friendly, very knowledgeable of the flora and fauna, and really good with kids. The restaurant was basic, typical foods from the region ... don't expect cordon bleu. The views were amazing, some of the best... More

Classic safari lodge in an interesting national park. Approached via water (even if, like us, you arrive too late for the river transfer from Liwonde - we still got had to get ferried across the Shire River, in pitch darkness!), the lodge stands in a stunning position on the corner of the river and a small lagoon, populated by hippos,... I recently spent a weekend at the Mvuu Lodge and could not have been more impressed with my overall experience. There were only 6 guests staying at the lodge and possibly twice as many staff taking care of us. Service: Efficient, friendly, courteous, knowledgeable! The staff went out of their way to help with request. For example, I didn't have... More

The Mvuu lodge itself only accommodates 16 people which was the size of our group. our host, Richard, and the entire staff, from safari guides, chefs and servers, took incredibly considerate care of us at all times.Situated on the Shire river, the surroundings were spectacular, with hippos, warthogs and impala roaming the grounds. The Mvuu staff made sure we felt... More

Spent 2 nights here with husband, daughter (who was 7 yrs old), mom & mother-in-law to ring in New Year's 2008 (forget the listed date, I am writing 3 years later!). We were enchanted and found it very family friendly (my mom and daughter enjoyed the pool with other kids staying with their parents). Our 2 bedroom cabin was very... More
