We ended our honeymoon at Kongoni Lodge, and it was a perfect end to a perfect trip. We were lucky enough to have the lodge to ourselves, and felt privileged to be able to stay here for 3 nights. Our hosts looked after our every need, and a casual discussion with Sam, our Guide, on one day, ended up with... More

Everything I experienced was just awesome, from nature to food, atmosphere to architecture, people to service, wow. The drive itself is lovely, passing all the hotels and lodges along the lake shore. The last lodge on that road so its really private, not too many rooms either giving you quality service and value for your money. Left there feeling much... More

My family and I went over to Kenya to see extended family and do a spot of safari. As we wanted to try someplace different that was slightly off the tourist route but with all the facilities, I organised our stay at Kongoni Lodge. The experience was absolutely fantastic, from the ease of booking (including tailoring to our family needs)... More

Seriously amazing place. Very captivating, with wildlife surrounding you every step of the way. The service is impeccable, and the food is utterly delicious! On top of everything, the management manages to juggle attention to detail and running a fantastic animal charity - ARR. highly recommended!!

Kongoni Lodge is everything you expect from a Kenyan lodge on a wild life preserve - beautiful views, lots of interesting game nearby, comfortable accommodation. Where they go above and beyond is in the personal interest the proprietors show you, and the astoundingly good food. Many lodges have a B&B feel that makes guests slightly feel as if they are... A beautiful, historical house overlooking Lake Naivasha… with lots and lots to do. We went game spotting; took boat trips to see the flamingos, relaxed around the pool, played bridge in front of the fire as well as feeding the warthogs on the verandah. Steve, our host was wonderful, the staff were perfect (not too fussy but we never felt... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A beautiful old colonial house, steeped in history on the shores of Lake Naivasha. Kongoni Ranch is a private conservation area, open to all people who want to experience the real Africa, away from the hustle and bustle of safari tours. It is a special place, remaining on the sidelines of beaten paths overrun by hordes of tourists rushing to photograph yet another representative of the African savannah. Here, there is no need to rush anywhere, because the animals themselves come into the ranch, which is their favorite grazing place. The name "Kongoni" comes from a species of antelope present in the area. The ranch is located in the central part of Kenya, some 120 km northwest of Nairobi. It includes about 1000 acres of savannah, a beautiful garden, stables, and a holding, whose focal point is a century old farm, once belonging to Margaret Countess De Perigny and her beloved husband, Roger. Their tombs, made of white stones and placed in the central part of the garden, are today a visible reminder of the former owners. The farm is situated on a volcanic shelf, elevated high above the Naivasha Lake, which results in its garden being a natural viewing terrace. Its view takes your breath away. A wide belt of African acacia, beyond which gleams the flat surface of the lake, provides the basis for a panorama of extinct volcanic cones. The house has five en-suite bedrooms that benefit from modern bathrooms, and can sleep eleven people in total. The bedrooms are off a central courtyard originally designed to accommodate the countess’ house guests of which there were many. ... more   less
