We agree with Kev361. This is now our third visit to the Royal Reserve in Kanamai and we enjoy it more each time we go, especially as we really like to have peace and tranquility. Please note we aim to go in May outside the school holiday period. The hotel is in the "old English Colonial style" - with excellent... More

Best things about resort, it was in Africa. It allowed us to have sunshine and a warm beach. It was a base for going on a short safari tour and touring the area. We had no problems with aggressive beach guys. Sammy L, Benga, and Sam were a great help. And none of the ladies bothered my husband. We will... More

Very nice resort in its own right however, once on the beach everything becomes a nightmare, if you enjoy walking or relaxing on the beach forget about it as this is impossible, beach boys are a huge problem they will not leave you alone for one single minute and ladies BEWARE keep an eye on your man, there are certain... We stayed in Jan/Feb 2013. The resort is a little off the beaten track, but for a relaxing holiday it wa fine. I would like to tell you about various trips etc but Tripadvisor apparently dont want me to write about other things on this review. I agree the place is a little bit dated, but dont go there and... we booked this through a holiday club, who really need to update their photographs. Most of the staff were lovely, the reception staff could appear a little unhelpful and miserable at times. I tried the onsite massage twice, really awful, the boy who did my massage has no concept of reflexology at all. The girl forgot what she was doing... More

My wife Sandra and I spent 2 memorable weeks here in October 2012,yes we agree with comments about some of the staff, but the majority were extremely friendly and helpful, some over and above the call of duty and they had " the Kenyan Smile". The Safari trip we booked through the Hotel excellent and good value for money. As... More

We came as a group... five ladies! Had a wonderful time, the staff were courteous and willing to assist in all instances. We even (unknowingly though) got the Managing director to take our group photos. Spent most of the time in the pool playing volleyball and it was a wonderful experience. We made our own meals, so we cannot say... More

In my view, the hotel needs to improve. i first stayed here in August 2004 and it was superb but going back in December 2012, it was a shadow of what it was. They really need to improve and change with time. In some rooms the AC was completely old and once it was switched on it would produce an... More

In fairness the majority of the staff here are fabulous. Although the receptionist couldnt have been more miserable if she'd tried. But the pool attendants, the bar staff, security, were everso friendly. The hotel is in much need of modernisation and refurbishment if it is going to claim 4/5 star status and I think Club la Costa should be ashamed... More
