I think this lodge has been re-named as Royal Tree Lodge since my visit. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here on day 1 and day 4 of a trip to Botswana in 2009 The staff were absolutely lovely and very friendly. Food was excellent. There are only about eight or nine chalets , so not a lot of people and... More

Good option if you want to stay in Maun; lodge is in a private game reserve, 30min from center, at the Thamalakane river. Every tent is very spacious, with luxurious interior, and privacy. Huge beds, outside shower, etc. Main building has shady terrace and pool (water was good, but ground would need some cleaning). You can walk on several trails... More

We stayed here for three nights as part of a three week trip to Southern Africa. Whilst the lodge isn't a private game lodge in the Delta - it is very private and the tents/chalets are a luxury. The staff were really attentive from booking to departure. They organised trips for us and were always friendly whilst we were there.... More

A twenty minute drive from Maun airport, and after passing a gate, you will reach Royal tree lodge. We stayed one night before starting our safari in Okawango. There is a big main building with community table and then a couple of bungalows with tent walls. They consist of one big room with a private bathroom and a bathtub, the... More

The Royal Tree Lodge is the ideal way to begin a safari in Botswana. We stayed in the Hornbill Chalet, which is a spacious thatch roof cottage with a large bath inside and a delightful, private outside shower for the more adventurous. We specially enjoyed the large grounds populated with non-carnivorous game and surrounded with well marked walking trails that... More

Rather than arrive in Maun from Johannesburg and hop straight onto a charter flight I wanted to have a look around Maun and also relax ,so chose Royal Tree Lodge (1/2 an hour out of town - 15km's) to do so. What a wonderful start to our trip. The drive to the Lodge was interesting with all manner of stalls,... More

What a delightful lodge in Maun! Royal Tree Lodge has a beautiful setting amongst huge trees in a forest area adjoining the Tamalakane River. The luxury en-suite tents are superb - probably some of the best appointed and most thoughtful layouts in Botswana (and that includes the Okavango Delta). This lodge is by far the best option in Maun. More

We had booked Motsentsela for the last night of our tour in Botswana and were very happy with out choice. The Lodge is located at a private nature reserve some 20 minutes drive from the airport. The manager of the lodge is very welcoming, so the atmosphere is very nice. The tents are of high quality, more like chalets than... More

This was the last stop on a self driving holiday to Botswana and having cammped for 6 nights we had decided to book in at the Motsentsela Tree Lodge in Maun for the last night. The Bradt book says that you can book this through Travel Wild. There office is opposite the airport. The Book is out of date, as... More
