We were warmly welcomed by the owner to her beautiful house. We took two double rooms, en-suite with shower. They were both decorated to a high standard, and the beds were very comfortable. I loved the round bed in my room! We had use of the comfortable sitting room, and breakfast was excellent. We experienced the sort of warm welcome... More

We needed to come a day early due to horrible weather conditions and fear of ferry not running! Margaret took care of the situation and sent us to another guest house down the street (where Annie and Findlay live!) and we spent the first two nights in a WONDERFUL house and then the next 2 nights in Hirta House which... We stayed at Hirta House for four nights and found it a very enjoyable experience. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated and very clean - with an outstanding sea view. Margaret made us feel welcome, was very helpful and took care to cater to our breakfast wishes. We would definitely choose Hirta House for a new stay! More

The room we stayed in was beautiful - just to our taste. The breakfast was very good and catered for every need. My husband now wants to take up sea... More

We were very disappointed to arrive and find no one in! We waited in the rain for 30 mins. Fortunately our trip involved some camping and we had our tent as back up however if we had relied on this B&B we would have been stuck. Looking at previous reviews this is not the first time its happened. More

Hirta House is ten minutes outside Tarbert on the island of Scalpay which is joined to Harris by a bridge. The welcome was friendly with the conservatory well lit for us so we could find the house as we arrived so late. Nothing was too much trouble for the Morrisons from our late arrival from Ullapool to hints about what... More
