As a group of 4 mountain bikers some proprietors could be put off, but we were welcomed with open arms. Bathroom etc. were clean, top notch and we wanted for nothing. Breakfast was spot on with fantastic salmon and eggs on the menu. When we came back with takeout we were not only allowed to use the dining area, but... More

Just got back home having been marooned in Newtonstewart for two days by the unexpected blizzard conditions. Being unable to leave via any road we chanced upon The Stables and ended up staying for two nights. Jacqui was marvellous, adapting accommodation to fit as many waifs and strays in as possible. Excellent food, wonderful charitable welcome to all, up to... More

We stayed for one night and really enjoyed it. Jacqui is the perfect hostess and makes you feel very welcome. The room was excellent and the breakfast was even better. There are many small touches that make you feel at home and there is a lovely sitting room. I would recommend a stay here to everyone.

We planned a visit to Newton Stewart at the start of the year, hoping to visit the Galloway Forest Dark Skies Park. Although the weather was not great for star gazing - the rest of our trip was very nice! We stayed 3 nights at Stables Guest House, we arrived to a very warm welcome from Jacqui. We stayed in... We stayed 4 nights here at the beginning of November. I visited from the US and took my parents who live in North Ayrshire. Jaqui makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk through her door. Very comfortable rooms. Ideal sitting room for reading or playing games. The breakfast was outstanding . Highly recommend.

A most enjoyable stay in this B&B...Jacqui was a most welcoming and friendly host and nothing was a bother. Her breakfast was one of the best we have ever had at a B&B and was worth getting out of bed for. Rooms were spacious and clean with little extras not usually supplied at B&B's. Would certainly return if ever in... More

Quite apart from being in one of the loveliest and quietest parts of Britain, Stables Guest House offered a standard of comfort, excellent food (we had breakfast and packed lunch) and even more important, a friendliness which reflected in dealings with other guests. I stay in a lot of hotels and guest houses for my work but this one was... More

Just had a fantastic stay at this lovely guest house. The room was comfortable and immaculately clean, the breakfasts were excellent and the location was handy for everything we wanted to do in the region. Jacqui was a fantastic host, making us feel incredibly welcome - nothing appeared to be too much trouble. I hope we'll be able to stay... More

This was a return visit and again Jacqui was brilliant - carried cases, cooked breakfast (including items not on the menu when asked), attended to the tiniest of details, even left her mobile number when she went out for an evening. Can't understand how this is ranked 6th in Newton - the top five must be beyond perfection!!

This is one of the friendliest B & B's we have stayed in. Jacqui was really welcoming, offering us tea and cakes on arrival and nothing was too much trouble. Many leaflets about walks in the area, and Jacqui lent us her large scale map. The whole place was spotlessly clean and the breakfasts magnificent. Would reccommend to anyone.
