Visiting the Borders and looking for a fantastic country house experience then go to Kelso and Stay in the centre of town in Ednam House Hotel. Georgian masterpiece of a home within a spectacular garden setting and large grounds on the bank of the tweed. Variety of rooms- some river views others onto the town, great Georgian decoration - fireplaces,... More

My husband and I stayed at Ednam House a couple of weekends ago and enjoyed the experience immensely. We are fairly frequent visitors to the Borders but have not for many years been in Ednam House simply because it was a regular haunt of an elderly cousin of mine and I couldn't imagine liking the same kind of establishment as... We are fortunate to live near to this lovely hotel. We went for lunch yesterday and it could not be faulted - a great birthday treat. We booked a window table and sat by a log fire overlooking the River Tweed. Great choice of menu and beautifully presented food. Attentive staff - but not intrusive. We had an open sandwich,... More

Well run hotel with loads of character in the perfect location. Very friendly and attentive staff. We stayed in one of the principal rooms overlooking the river which was both spacious and comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was excellant. Will definetly stay here again, a real gem. This my second review of this establishment, but if something is good then it is worth saying so. It is full of old world charm. If you want wifi access and super modern decor then this is not the place for you. It is a country house hotel with a Downton Abbey feel. It's quite expensive, but there's nothing wrong... More

This is the second time I have stayed with a group of friends on a shooting weekend. The hotel is excellent for making your stay a relaxing experience. Nothing was too much trouble, from storing our equipment, to arranging packed lunches and at the same time accomodating the special dietery needs of a friend. The entire hotel is traditional with roaring... Beautifully located right on the iconic River Tweed , an interesting house in a stramash (look it up ! ) Of styles from Jacobean French through Scottish baronial to Deco , on the edge of a clattering cobbled square. Unusual. Service is the product of fastidious management and shines throughout. Food quality is as you would expect from its location... More

We have been here three time for lunch and it is still a popular location. Lunches are served in the bar area with a relaxed rustic charm and views out over the river. The food is fairly simple but a good selection and freshly cooked; they also do a "half portion" for about 20% less when you are not so... More
