My other half and myself had a most enjoyable time at the Cross House over the Easter. Always on our list to stay several times a year and it never fails to relax us both.Close enough to town, just a gentle stroll down the hill to the harbour, restaurants and shops. Nick and the staff once again made us most... More

This hotel is in a great position but it doesn't look like any decoration has been done for many years. It felt a bit run down and nothing was very clean, including some of the cutlery at breakfast. The room itself was OK and had a great view, but again felt shoddy and not well looked after. The breakfast was... More

We stayed here for one night on our first wedding anniversary. The host Nick couldn't have been better. We were given a sea view room and he was polite and friendly whenever we saw him. The room was fine and the shower was fairly powerful. The location is good only a couple of minutes walk up hill from the harbour.... More

We arrived on spec and negotiated areasonable rate with the owner.(£75) However having asked for room with bath we ended up in a room with a shower ( trickle only). The room was dirty although the bed linen clean. The bed was horrid, plenty of squeek and lots of uncomfortable springs. The honest bar in an evening felt like the... More

This hotel is a disgrace to the tourist board and should be closed down. My husband and I booked it from a 2005 M&S B&B book but it had changed hands. It should be inspected and regraded! Shabby, dirty and expensive not to mention the apalling breakfast served by a very dubious character in an ill fittimg suit who kept... More

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in July. After 5 nights camping we were looking forward to the luxury of a hotel, however the room and bathroom were dirty and the beds were more uncomfortable than the tent. The breakfast cereals were not cleared away and left in open bowls from day to day. On our second... More

Rooms were adequate size but very grubby on reflection as was the dining room, dirty table linen and dried food in window seats. Wine was rancid in lounge although charged at extortionate rate for 1 glass! Shower was a mere trickle and the hot water scalding hot, too hot for safety standards for sure. Needs a lot of updating and... More

We arrived very late on the Saturday night but were made very welcome - as we were in the morning, when we also arrived late for breakfast. Our room, at the top, was great. Really good breakfast. We appreciated presence of honesty bar for nightcap. Can't understand previous criticisms about value for money - the Cross House was far superior... More

We only stayed one night in a small room at the top of the house which was really lovely. The location of this hotel is ideal for the town. The Manager is very friendly and helpful and we did have a parking space which I think was behind the house. We had our breakfast out on the patio which was... More

I have just returned from a 3 night stay with my young daughter and I must say that I was a little disappointed. The website photos make it look much more classy than it actually is, and it could benefit from a thorough clean and to be updated. Our room hadn't even been dusted, and the tea tray and kettle...
