After walking on a very wet day being greeted with scones and tea was a great start. The room was spotless, comfortable and well furnished. Our group of 9 asked for an 8 o'clock breakfast, this was flexible if an early start required. Breakfast- a wonderful selection, freshly cooked to order and all as requested. Well done Carol and staff... More

We arrived early evening after a long day walking the C2C. One of our party had been taken ill in the morning and given a lift to the Jolly Farmers earlier in the day and she had been given a room early and looked after until we got there. Another walker we met on the way decided he didn't want... More

We were greeted on arrival with freshly baked scones with jam and tea in the large guest lounge. We had a large, newly decorated and well furnished room (room 5) with a small but good en-suite with a corner bath. All spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with lots of fresh fruit, cereals etc - also porridge -... More

Owners daughter welcomed us on arrival on our Coast to Coast walk and could have not been more helpful in pointing us in the direction of the nearest launderette and the best places to eat. The rooms were very comfortable, the breakfast was exceptional in choice and variety, and very handily located for walkers. The only down side was a... More

Stayed here July 2012 as we were at a wedding down the road Stunning place, very welcoming, then it went downhill. The owner stayed up till 2am waiting for us to come home, which made us feel slightly awkward throughout the evening as we kept thinking we should go home early We are city folk and through our own naivety... I was walking the C2C with a friend and we were restarting at Kirkby Stephen following a break for other commitments. What an excellent place to restart. We were greeted with tea and fresh scones in a relaxing atmosphere. The bedroom was comfortable with plenty of space. The Jolly Farmers is situated within easy reach of the eating places in... More

A warm welcome and a spacious room with an excellent breakfast. Unusually Carol also cooked the evening we stayed there because she had a large shooting party in. Delicious 3 course meal. Our room (at the front) was attractive and had all facilities we could want after a hard, wet day's walking.

Arrived to tea and scones which were delicious and a very welcoming lady, we were even given the choice of which room we wanted on arrival, so chose one with a large bath- perfect to soothe the aches and pains after walking.
