My wife and I were staying at the Vogafjos on May 20, 2012 when northern Iceland was hit with a freak snow storm. For all practical purposes, the roads out of Myvatn were impassable: a combination of slippery snow and ice covered the pavement completely and dense fog made it impossible to see more than 150 feet ahead. There appeared... More

What a surprise when we parked and found some goofy faced cows eating away and welcoming us with their eyes! The hotel is composed of the cabins on the other side of the road, a small restaurant (The Cow shed bar), the actual cow shed where the cows eat and sleep alondside a see through room where you can see... The breakfast is over the top. The price is rather high... Even in low season.

We were here in the first week of September and had a lot of snow. The room was very warm and cozy. The breakfast was delicious, and we enjoyed watching the cows. A lot of people have commented on the price but if you come in the shoulder season it is very reasonable (for Iceland). The restaurant was a bit... More

We booked our stay as a last minute journey while in Iceland. The site clearly states that you can cancel a booking - if you provide more than a 24 hour notice. Unfortunately my wife twisted her knee after I had made the reservations and we spent the entire day at a hospital in Reykjavik. It gets dark very early... More

my husband and I loved this place (we like a casual place but nicely done). the people were very friendly. The hotel section is a short ride from the restaurant in a quiet country setting. the food in the restaurant is very good and it has a good and varied Icelandic breakfast and a view overlooking the lake. One night... More

The place is very simple, but the room we got was spacious, clean, quiet and cosy. Breakfast delicious; you can also eat dinner there, which is equally good. I would definitely stay there again. In the area I strongly recommend climbing the mountain at the other side of the Myvatn lake with stunning views on pseudocraters.

It is a bit overpriced but I really liked this hotel. This the place I would stay again if back in Myvatn area. The restaurant/reception area is very cool. It is a farm, with cows behind big glass walls, so you can see them all the time. The restaurant walls are glasses as well so the lake view is quite... More

As described earlier, the accomodations are relatively large wooden row houses with a very clean bathroom. Unfortunately there is no view. Reception and the cowshed cafe are 5 min walk away. What really drives me to write this review is the excellent breakfast - in fact it was the best we had during 2 weeks in Iceland. Excellent (partly home... More

We were disappointed that we paid so much for a rather average experience. The room itself was comfortable enough, but it was very tiny, and it was frustrating that the guesthouse charged the same price for these tiny rooms as they do for their larger rooms. (Ask which size you'll be getting... though either way, the rooms were overpriced compared... More
