While Patagonia is a backpackers dream, you might find yourself tempted to forego the backpack and choose a more tranquil rest, if you stay here. It was awfully tempting to extend my stay, thankfully (or may be unfortunately) Meulen was booked for the next few nights, so I remained committed to a backpacking adventure. Beware, Meulen is wonderful and inexpensive...great... More

the hotel is out of town and on a sand/gravel road. work is being done on the main road and the drivers had a hard time to get there but the hotel is lovely both inside and out and the rooms are excellent with great lake views. paula is very helpful and nice. there is a lagoon nearby with a... This place would be great if it were just closer to town. The views are great of largo argentino, there's a free breakfast that is just sufficient, wifi was ok (we couldn't get it in our room, so we were camped out in the living room area/lobby when we had to use wifi). They only take you twice into town... More

Located about a half hour walk from downtown, with a marvelous view of the lake. Excellent staff. They make you feel at home from the minute you step in. Comfortable room, impecable bathroom. The hotel has a shuttle service to downtown twice a day. They dropped us off at 8 p.m. and picked us up at 11:00 (still daylight in... More

Hotel is located a bit outside of the city center but offers twice daily free shuttle service to/from downtown. All tours to the national parc come and pick you up and you don't really need a car or taxi. In general you are one of the first ones to be picked up for the bus tours due to the location... More

The hotel is situated about half an hrs walk outside the town. It offers a taxi service twice a day into town plus all tours pick up fm hotels. Its views are amazing and are worth the walk. The rooms are lovely - a little quirky with lovely old furniture but with modern bathrooms. The view from our bedroom was... More

We went with some friends who recommended the hotel as have been there before. We got there and it looks like a grand house and with wonderful, large rooms, very individual, old and charming furniture and details. Plus: Minibar and wine included in rooms, internet and shuttle service to the downtown. - The whole atmosphere is very homey and Ralph... More

Hosteria Meulen is just the same as on the pictures, antique furniture, close to Argentino lake and very classy decorated. But it is not by the lake, almost 800 m far from it and there are a couple of hotels in the same area which are much more closer even by the lake. I am passionate with historical styled places... We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights in november and loved it! It's not a very big hotel and that's what we like. Yes, you do need to follow a gravelroad and it's a bit further from the center of El Calafate, but taxis are cheap (and 5-10 min. max.) and walking is only about 20 minutes. We did't... More
