Me, my wife and out 1 year old boy had the luck to stay 2 nights at this lovely guesthouse. When it comes to good service, fantastic food, amazing views of the ocean and tastfully decorated rooms this guesthouse should be the standard. We really would like to thank Pietro who was such wonderful and charming host and Mannes who... More

We had a nice room overlooking the bay from our window, and were able to see whales on one day. It was lovely to come back to eat so well at the guest house after a day of sight seeing. Petro and Greta were a great help when we were deciding what to do during the day. More

This Guest House is certainly one to remember, and hopefully we will return. The whole experience was absolutely fantastic, and unique. The rooms were beautiful and well decorated, with fabulous bathrooms, and jacuzi baths in all of them! The garden/patio areas were lovely, and everything was kept in pristine condition. The fruit and vegetable garden was great as well -... More

We were welcomed by Petro and the dinner was cooked by her husband, Mannes. What a joy! All guests are given the choice of dining apart from other guests or together at a long table. We chose to eat with everyone else and met some fascinating people from the Netherlands, Germany, the UK and South Africa. The food was sublime,... More

Always meant to review this place but arrived home to other demands and failed to do it at the time. So ... just wanted to endorse all the positive comments, this is an unusual place, friendly, environmentally conscious, food great, we enjoyed the wine cellar, the rooms lovely (and we didn't have an ocean facing one), we enjoyed the family... As first time visitors to Hermanus we were treated like royality from the moment we arrived at Schulphoek Guest House. This venue was a recommendation from a frend in the travel and tourism industry. Owner Petro welcomed us with a delicious Cappuccino and gave us some wonderful tips on where to go sight-seeing , recommended art gallerys, restaurants and of... More

Very sophisticated, elegant and confortable. Also they serve a very good dinner and have a prize winning wine cellar. The rooms are romantic, spacious and with high level furniture. One should pay attention to the directions: we get lost at first. And we looked at the little map we had (from the travel agency) and it was quite easy after... More

My wife and I stayed here in their best 'suite', the Scalllop room - for that is what it is. It has a view over the bay - the only room here that does, the rest of the rooms looked a bit dark and dingy. We dined here on both nights - the food was good but nothing special and... More

This was our third visit to Schulphoek and it will certainly not be our last. Petro and Mannes provide the warmest of welcomes and have the knack of making guests feel like old friends. The friendly 'social' dining table and the evening meals are a highlight particularly when they follow a visit to Mannes' superb wine cellar! More
