“General view plus a welcome surprise”

I went on a roadtrip through the Garden Route and stayed over at the Outeniqua Protea! I had a great stay in the middle of town. “Good value for money”

I passed through George for business and selected the Protea Outeniqua Hotel for my overnight stay. It was an excellent choice. Centrally situated, lots of restaurants in walking distance from the hotel. Old but clean and homely. Excellent breakfast. Good value for money. Try the Protea Hotel Outeniqua for a good stay in the heart of the Garden Route.Suze Kieswetter More

“Keep driving past this Hotel”

There are so many nice hotels in this area of the Garden Route you can avoid this one. Tiny Rooms, moldy bathrooms that are so small its unreal. If you are over 5 ft 5 you won't fit in the shower and if you do you will fall in the toilet when you try to get out. Toilets were not... More

Protea Hotel Outeniqua is the ideal stop if you either en route to Cape Town or Port Elizabeth – halfway sleep over. Very central. Enjoyed the stay very much! Walking distance from very good restaurants… Staff extremely friendly and helpful! AWESOME breakfast! More

“Amazing weekend at Protea Hotel Outeniqua!!!”

As a couple staying for the week end it was thoroughly enjoyed. Beach is a 10 minute drive and superb golf courses all around. Lots of restaurants to choose from all within walking distance. Clean, efficient and very friendly. Very good value for money. Tasty breakfast. Nice rooms. Thank you Protea Hotel Outeniqua!! You will definitely see as again, soon!! More

Nice to have a place to stay that is so central as a corporate traveller with plenty of meetings – this was ideal. Service was good. Rooms comfortable. Staff very friendly!! Walking distance from restaurants… Will definitely recommend this hotel!! More

I stayed there for 2 days in November 2011, arrived with 2 big cooler boxes full of frozen meat and fruit-staff extremely helpfull and accommodating. “Furnishings dated but staff friendly and helpful.”

If you are from the UK, the hotel is very much like the chain "Travel Lodge", however not as cheap. We drove into George around 10pm so we didn't really have time to explore - just pulled into this hotel off the main road. “Filthy, decaying old roadside motel”

Dirty carpets, dingy hallways, dank lighting, spartan rooms......like a 50's motel someplace on route 66 that never upgraded or closed. $72 per night single for this place is robbery. There are at least two guest houses in George near the ocean that are priced similarly and offer excellent accommodation. Avoid the Protea motel in George! More
